Well actually it was more like 3 hours......

but I didn't video all of it!

Sick to death of sitting in watching Jools Holland's 'Hooterfekkinanny', myself, Babsmewife and IainRKid decided to dust off our passports and set sail for darkest Bolton last night to watch Johnny Meerkat at The Seven Stars, one of the northwests smallest, but friendlist venues.

I'm not going to review them, 'cos you all know I've seen these guys several times and I think they are brilliant.

Just wanted to share a bit of the fun with you

Happy New Year to all

No offence to Graham or the Meerkats here....BUT.....if you wanna do a tune for ''all the old punks out there'' why not do one we'd appreciate instead of doing Teenage Bastard Kicks.....
Why does everybody feel they HAVE to play this song...WHY ?????
It's one for kids just starting school bands.....for FUCK sake.....

The MeerKats do the most entertaining version of that song I ever heard, I would sooner they do that one than a Sham 6fookin9 number ;-)
and that is from a GENUINE OLD PUNK !!!

Sham 69 were a crossover punk/Oi band, I never really liked all their stuff but there were some great Sham tunes.
We do Kids are United and Questions & Answers....gonna have a go at Hersham Boys for the new set and maybe Borstal Breakout too.....
We played on the same bill as them at the Morecambe Punk festival a couple of years ago, Pursey isn't with them anymore.
And when they were on TOTP in the day, why was Jimmy often referred to as 'Sir' ...?????

Ya got me on that one Gary !! to quote an old Lurkers song, ''Aint got a clue'' ;-)
but it seemed to me that as soon as true punk started to obtain underground cult status with the disgruntled teens of 77 it soon became watered down and made palatable to the masses by industry bigwigs and bandwagon jumpers who saw the pound notes, then we ended up with ''New Wave''
I aint knockin new wave but ffs me parents liked it !! ....pmsl
Some bands who today 'deservedly' have punk rock status actually played a major part of that transitional watering down process ie Billy Idol & Generation x, Siouxie, The Damned, yes and Sham 69
others were just a joke, ie,the likes of Plastic fookin Bertrand & Jilted fookin John, they must have had Wayne County spinnin in his knickers...lol
Gary, it's somethin to chew the cud over next time we gerra beer hey ?
