Idle Promise at The Seven Stars Bolton last night......

First of all i have to apologise for not remembering all the guys names (and I can't even claim it was the booze 'cos I was driving!)

I only spoke to them briefly, so the names didn't stick in my thick head, but Nigel, Anthony, Chris and 'the other two', it was brill to meet you.

Classic line-up of 2 guitars, bass, drums and frontman soundchecked with the 'classic' 'Video Killed the Radiostar'! which showcased their harmonies very well.

Unfortunately, in the first set the lead vocals were a bit low and the lead guitar a bit loud, but after we beat them up at half time, they sorted it out and the mix in the second set was much more balanced and clearer.

They played a proper mix of songs from The Raconteurs to AC/DC and Status Quo to Kings of Leon and the Fratellis - this was definitely a set with something for everyone.

There was a very funny moment when the smoke machine got out of control and filled the pub AND set the smoke alarm off (see pictures on FB - I can't be arsed uploading them onto here:

The pub was pretty full (half of it NWBers - you know who you are!) and the songs well recieved, and I'm sure Idle Promise will be back there before long.

Well played guys and I finally get to tick you of my 'to see' list!

Off to Hindley tonight!

This is exactly the spirit we need, same faces all the time though....which is great BUT how many post on here asking for people to come see 'them' but NEVER return the favour on their' nights off'.....If I wasn't rehearsing in Sowerby Bridge last night I'd have been at this event....I'm off to Hindley tonight to support a NWB gig or 3.....
