out and about round Hindley last night
Me n IainRKid hooked up with Dave from The Hindley Arms and his mate Adrian last night for a triple header in and around Hindley.
First off, The Black Cat Trio at The Swan, Hindley Green for a full on set of 'bopping, strolling and jiving'. It's a nice, if rather small, venue and was pretty much rammed by the time we got there. Met Gary and Mark from LGIT and had a pint and a good old chinwag.
Bob, Andy and Dave put on a good show and the audience (including a large presence of 'authentic' rockers) loved it.
Another prime example of the variety of music on offer out there.
At half time the four of us moved on to Georgia Brown's (which got busier and busier!) to watch Northern Riot. I've been promising John I'd get to see him for ages, so 'mission accomplished' although I definitely want to see a full set off them now.
I didn't get to talk to any of them, because they were playing when we arrived and left, but this is a set of guys who clearly really enjoy what they do. I was also most impressed with John's kit, and especially his snare drum (gonna hafta get me one of them John!). Great sound, different song choices (Elvis!) and good, good fun!
Then to round the night off it was back to The Hindley Arms to see the end of The Boneyard Dogs set. Now these guys started playing when we first left, and were still playing (without a break) two and a half hours later when we got back!
They continued for another half an hour and then did another 30 mins of encores - now that is some going. I was glad to hear that they had sorted out earlier PA problems and they rocked the place.
As Dale is going to be leaving them early this year, it was a treat to catch them - I only hope they can find a suitable replacement (and that is going to take some doing!).
All enhanced by Dee and Dave's superb hospitality and meeting friends old and new (Gill, Roj, Baz (Black Rose), Ian (Chopperhbontas), Trig, Vicky and Stu (Hallowed) to name but a few).
KMaL!
