Well, I don't care if you call me a 'brown-noser'

or accuse me of being in a 'clique'

Rather than talk about it, I'm going to continue to support local and not so local bands and venues this weekend, as I do most weekends when I'm not gigging and not ill.

I have to admit that upto about a year ago I was a 'well I play in a band most weekends - why would I go out and see one when I'm not playing?' brigade, but actually taking the plunge and getting out there and seeing you guys do what you love doing changed all that, and now I'm an NWB headbanderolic.

And it's not just seeing the bands and hearing the music either - it's meeting the people:

The members of the bands;

The landlords and landladies;

and, ofcourse, the punters which is all of US if we're not playing.

I know I bang on about this alot, but that's because I really think it's true.

So this Saturday I'm going to go and support a brand new band composed of people whom I know for a fact absolutely love the music they're going to be playing , 'Black Rose' Thin Lizzy covers band.

I might end up seeing a band on Sunday aswell......

Now, I'm not expecting you all to come and join my 'clique' (although it's a rather odd clique 'cos everyone is in it), but just go and see someone if you're not playing. Take your gig diary too - you might even get a booking out of it.

So come on boys and girls, stop all this bitching and moaning and

JUST GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY YOURSELVES!

If WE can't do it, how can we expect 'average' punters to?

AL
I don't buy into this clique thing, it's only the boring farts who stay in that call people cliques.
I've been out with the headbanders and there are always different people in the 'gang' and new people are always welcome.....even me !!!
And as I've stated recently you are always good company...
All the best
Gary

Well Im in a similar brigade to what Al used to be in, but the one I'm in is called "I play in a band most weekends, whilst the missus stays in and looks after our kids, so don't even dare suggest that your gonna go and watch a band on ya night off brigade'
Would love to get out to see the bands, there a are plenty class acts about......(perhaps when the kids are bigger), but until then I'll watch the vids posted on here. (keep em coming)

The problem is - you'll soon want to be out every weekend!

I'm supposed to be taking Babsmewife to the cinema and for a meal Friday night, but there's atleast 2 bands on that I want to see.......

@ Charlie & Norma....how ya doing? Ive always been called Dan it just for some reason if Im in a band or football team the rest of the team call me danny! its funny when Im in a band they always seem to call me "turn down danny" and when I'm in a football team they all seem to give me the name "pass the ball you greedy bastard danny" ...strange that!

I'm at my local pubs watching bands every weekend. I support them in every way I can, I talk to them and they are mostly fairly decent people. They sometimes get me up too which is a privilege, admittedly an unexpected one, but a great one. I end up mostly being told how "bloody sh*thot" I am, and how I "don't need this lot" etc. However I don't really like being referred to as a "punter", I prefer the term "Spectating Muso". But to those who don't go out and watch bands whenever they're free, unless they have mitigating circumstances as to why they can't, give it a go, you'll learn quite a bit and get a better image, as you show that you support live music as a whole. Basically, the scene needs you.

That's my 2 Cents anyway.

@ AYP steady on! it takes enough balls to go out gigging when we've no babysitters and Leannie (the missus) has to stay in with the kids. Im doing more gigs now than ever but will make an effort to find a baby sitter this year then we can both come and watch :0)
