Where's That Strawberry Gardens Blog Post Gone?

Now that was the most fun I have had with my clothes on...Bring It Back now yer bastards!

I am still wiping the tears of laughter at the response to the earlier, now retracted post that Strawberry Gardens put on here. Gigs available, you may get £200 but you have to bring a crowd with you, in house PA available at £100 or you can bring your own but it has to be made available ro the support band.

That was about the jist of it right?

I was about to suggest it may be worthwhile investing in a bucket to do a collection, supposedly for the band. May as well rip the punters off too eh? lol

In response to my own post.....We, the bands, should rally round and get NWB to remove these venues that come on here and royally take the piss. It makes the venues that do right by bands look bad and venues like that are not welcome by the bands that work hard to gain a following on this site. The very fact that SG removed their earlier post is an admission that they were taking the piss, yes you tried to say it was badly worded but it was badly worded from the first to the last sentence. The word is out about that venue now and it is not a place we will be playing. Good luck if you decide to play there as bands are looking out for each other, i have had other mails about the same venue...No names mentioned as some people don't want to enter into this post, i respect that but when they don't show us respect then they deserve a royal slagging.

he might as well said, the pubs gonna be empty, you'll be lucky if you get paid, and never mind if your gear is broken by the support band (who incidentally will be your audience if they havn't buggered off home), and also by the time you actually go on, you'll be passed caring anyway, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz until you get a bill for the P.A. Sorry strawberry gardens but ordering bands to do what they would usually do anyway just seems wrong and patronising. And as for the other stuff, YEAH RIGHT!

I see they've re-worded and re-posted the blog now, damage limitation i suppose. I stand to be corrected if they look after bands then fine. Anyone who plays there should let everyone else know what the score is so they know for their own future reference.

Oh what a shame the blog has gone. it was brilliant.

If you were getting a builder in, would you tell him what tools to bring, when to start and finish and the amount he'll get paid will depend on how good a job he did?

Actually, coming to think of it, that sounds like a good idea :)

I wouldn't be too harsh..It was funny, but how many of us have posted rubbish somewhere at some time (especially after a few pints...and judging from the post, whoever put it on had had a few).

Time will tell if it works as a venue, and I guess reports will get back here. My reservations would be if its only a small pub (which it was said it was)then a support band as well seems a bit much...plus I'm never a fan of places that only have bands once a month (the regulars who go in the rest of the time see it as an imposition eg they can't watch Skysports etc)...much better to have a regular weekly gig where people know there's something on every week and get used to going there.

Nah, good luck to them...at least they're making an effort...might be nice to play Fleetwood in summer....although I suggest the first few bands who play there ask to get paid before they set up :o)

wow just logged on, the blog has started again, our bands main gripe is the use of our equipment before we go on, only on the condition they scrap the support band then we would
play there, is there anyone with me on this point. its up to strawberry gardens, i have had an amp blown up by a so called support band, they are usualy young lads who dont have thier own gear or transport and are high on ego and your right they dont hang around to watch you, sorry you guys know who you are and need to show some respect when given the chance to play, to add to that the people with them are gone to, which emptys the pub a bit.double whammy.

Aye bollox to that crap, support bands on the pub circuit are nonesense? Who do they think they are The Academy group? When yo pay £200 you get a good covers band for 2 hours with a PA. You can't expect more than that for your dosh.

well i realy think we can all calm down now about this, there
is a genaral concensus of opinion from lots of bands and hopefully the strawberry gardens take it on board and learn
from it, and maybe rethink the ball game, thats it i,m out of it now, catch you in the next good blog, pete

Yes but you have to hire the in house PA, bring your own crowd, guarantee to sell ten barrels of ale, give t shirts away for free and do a four hour set.....£50 sound ok?

Hells Bells, wot is this..the bands strike back lol. Wish id seen the original blog, talk about slaughtered but it appears justified. Congrats to James Luke who has also struck a blow for musicians by successfully suing a venue in Southport for taking the piss(see blog 15th jan)If only every venue was like the Hindley Arms the world would be sweet indeed,GUD ON YA Dave n Dee !!

Check www.rockofthenorth.com which is focused more on Yorkshire.

There was a few NW based websites, but I seem to have fended/outlasted most of them..

Check out.. www.prestone.co.uk (based bands), www.blackpoolbands.co.uk, and www.leedsmusic.net, They are pretty cool sites,.. although, they are more focused towards the "young uns".

boltonmusic.co.uk is cool tho.
