album challenge

got a prized cd/lp collection.....read on

i love to dig out 2 or 3 cds a week to listen to on my Ipod, i dont mind Ipods and embrace and use them, but id rather have the physical album, cant beat it

your challenge is to pick out an album or 2 or 3 you love that you may not have not heard for ages, tell us about it, and hey if some of us have the same one, we can dig it out and listen to as well, even pick them with your eyes shut, and with pop mixed with rock this could be scary..

here goes for me (goes over to collection)

at random

Living Colour Times Up
Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion 1
Nickelback Silver Side Up

not bad, wanted some non rock in there too but hey..

happy listening! let me know what you pick!

Good blog Rob!

I did one in a similar vein recently, but not ones in your own collection.

Unfortunately, I'm one of those rather anal people that has their CD's in alphabetical order, so I would sort of know what area I was picking in, but in the spirit of it I thought I'd have a look and see what I've bought. but not played for a while.....

Alvin Lee - Ten years Later, 'Rocket Fuel'

Eels, 'Daisies From The Galaxy'

Sarah McClachlan, 'Afterglow'

Sarah McClachlan 'Afterglow' - fantastic choice! Same with the Eels too (and just about everything else mentioned here too).

For me, 3 belters that I haven't listened to in ages:

Damn Yankees - Damn Yankees
INXS - Kick
Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears

Bolton has some voice

Nah for me it's Zakk all the way...... yeah randy was awsome but I never got into Jake E Lee and Guss G just seems like your typical metal head shredder to me.......... saying that I saw zakk wylde last week and he bored the hell out of me!

here's a thing - i played some vinyl the other day for the first time in a long time ..... Steely Dan Can't Buy A Thrill - only 1 side tho - isn't it a pain to have to come back and turn it over after, like 18 mins or so!!
Anyhoo ... appropriate to the blog I've just selected three more at random from my (sdmittedly not very large collection) and over the next few days I'll give these a spin .......

Dire Straits - Making Movies
Medicine Head - Thru A Five

Come Taste The Band by Deep Purple: Still my second fav Purple CD ever. Shame that Bolin wasn't too hot live :-(

Hold Your Fire by Rush: Gets slated for a dated 80's sound by most fans but has the awesome The Mission on there.

And Then There Were Three by Genesis: I did have to slip one in there ;-) Superb album with NO low moments on there for me.

Best wishes

John

What a thread! Pride & Glory is, quite simply, one of the finest albums I have ever heard. And Terence Trent D'Arby's 'Introducing The Hardline According To...' is phenomenal too - the number of top notch singles he released from that album is unreal.

And Michael Bolton? Great singer! What was the album he released with 'Steel Bars' on it? Can't remember the title now but I played that to death when it first came out (around 90ish / early 90's)?
