Photo locations. Please help.

Anyone got any ideas?

Ronseal. Anyone got any good location ideas for photo shoots?

Old mills, interesting monuments, graffitti laden walls, iconic album cover locations? Urban, suburban or rural. Preferably in the North West.

Anyone who suggests a decent location will be offered a free (yes FREE!) photoshoot. And this is your last chance to take advantage as this is the last time I'm giving it away.

Hopefully you've all seen some of my Resevoir Dogs and Bad Horsie shots. Evenings are becoming workable as we have more light. Could be interesting to take some sunset/flare photos? If you think that suits your band image, let me know. Saturdays are also good.

Cheers
Asa

How about this. It's the most incongruous sight ever - like some alien life pod plopped in the middle of a field in Haworth country park on the road between Colne and (rather predictably) Haworth.

There's portholes all around the sides of it and a huge well shiny chrome orb inside the middle. It's bonkers...though technically in Yorkshire so 'nuff said....

Depends what you're after and who you're taking photos for I guess.

The Northern Quarter in Manchester is always cool, particularly the little sidestreets off Tib Street and the absolutely fantastic Soap Street (as used in loads of Life on Mars episodes).

There's a few interesting locations dotted about Manchester in general too. I think Hexagon Tower in Crumpsall is probably the coolest building in Manchester - it's just nuts that a place like that is where it is now the rest of ICI has gone.

I think Our Lady's & St Paul's church on Heywood is a really fascinating place, it's a stark brutalist building and looks about as far removed from any idea you'd have of a church before.

Heaton Park is quite fascinating for the bits of Victorian/Edwardian clutter lying around.

Freehold and the surrounding areas near Jammy Lane in Chadderton in Oldham is great as it looks like a street out of the blitz, they're knocking down the terraces and there's a burnt out mill in the background.

There's also a mad piece of public art in the form of a submarine sticking out of the ground round the back of Collyhurst in the middle of nowhere. It's great but some idiot painted it in a St George's cross before the world cup and hasn't turned it back to it's battleship grey so it's not quite as cool now - still might look good for some bands though.

that looks really cool tubthumper

i like the idea of ruins myself asa - there's a place i once went to called Roche Abbey (even further in the wrong direction unfortunately) which is like somewhere out of lord of the rings - too far though maybe as it's over near rotherham

this place looks pretty good still though mate and much closer to home

will be especially good if you can have a climb on it ;)

if you can get access to Mayfield Station near picadilly you'd get some cracking shots in there - might just take a call to network rail to be above board or i know someone with a key who works there if not lol

photos might be some pretty condemning evidence of trespassing though

In Dunham Park, where the deer are, there's a little tiny house that looks good (really tiny) seen somebody doing a video shoot there
Bolton....if you want that 'I come from a slum' look....but there's a little alley next to Last Orders which looks like Harlem (watch out for the working girls though :D
Theres also that place with the big yellow US vintage taxis round the corner...very stylish

NWB delivers!!

@Ben Murray - we need to get onto this Colne/Haworth orb/dome/contraption.

@Tex - If you can find yourself a band and then find a place like that.....I'm there!

@Stu - Lovin the ruins idea, but there's got to be something closer. Not that I mind a run to Garstang!

@Everyone else - if you've suggested somewhere and you're wanting pics, just send me a PM!

Cheers

@ Asa - yeah prob not worth the run out to rotherham but thought it was worth a mention. We were driving along and saw it off to the side of the road. Was a misty day as well so looked even more stunning. Gonna get some photos again next time i'm out that way (if I ever have cause to be again)

Still a newby to the north west really so not found any decent places with regard to ruins around here.

Another good idea might be some standing stones - especially if you've any psychedelic bands interested. Again not sure of any this way but theres a cool stone circle just the other side of Buxton off the A515 - Arbor Low.

Asa - Alderley Edge, some stunning scenery there.

Or you can use my backgarden - we've got a pond and a rabbit and everything!

You have to upload it to somewhere like Photobucket, then copy the IMG code and paste it into your blog/comment

@Al - I've come to the conclusion that "scenery" doesn't really work as a backdrop for band portraits. I've tried a pond but never a pond AND a rabbit. I might just take you up on that :oD

Clitheroe castle is pretty cool - especially if you get a shot of the town from above in the background. Cracking chippy down the road too!
