what did you think?
Place was a sell out, nostalgia by the bucketloads.
british rock at it's best. great show great song list, was a bit put off by the sound untill they said it was being recorded then it made sence that it was being compressed to death. Fury UK, where fekking awsome, wll definatly look out for more of their gigs. tight as a ducks...... Wolsbane,, mmmmmm piss poor i thought, but that is just my opinion, gave me chance to get to the bar!!!! in all, fekking good gig. Saxon still as rocking as ever!!!!
We left early because the Academy 2 was feckin overful and we got pissed off with barged barged around all the time. We saw them at The 02 in Leeds 2009 and they were absoultey brill but didn't sell it out. As for the sound I commented that I thought the sound wasn't the best, but if it was being recored then fair enough. I will always watch Saxon as they are one of my fav bands, but not at the A2, It's too small a venue for them. Roj
yeah im not a fan of academy 2,it was full of pushers and shovers when i saw Europe in there i really must watch them next time with ya, i have three of their albums, they keep doing the academy but STILL not see em :0(
"thought the sound wasn't the best, but if it was being recored then fair enough""put off by the sound untill they said it was being recorded "who paid for the feckin tickets???!!!! YOU!! who deserves the best sound .... ?? YOU!!!who'll pay for the CD ............ you????? I hope not!!get yer money back!oh- too late now!
didnt really think it was that full, the pushers n bargers do that any where. I kinda like the venue, bit like a good busy pub. as for the sound, it wasn't bad, but too compressed, vocals sounded a little distant, if you get what I mean. worth every penny, and yea, will probably buy the dvd!!!! \m/ \m/
The sound wasn't great, particularly for Fury UK. That place robbed a lot of Chris's guitar tone and vocal defenition. I don't know if it was being recorded, but if it was it shouldn't affect the live sound at all. At that sort of level they'll have two completely separate mixes, one for the live sound and one for the recorded sound. Having said that I think all the bands played brilliantly, first time I've seen Saxon live and absolutely loved it!
We just about managed to squeeze into the back bit, where the bogs were, so probably not the bext place to be, but couldn't and didn't want to go any further.
