A venue review

Located very close to UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire), The Wheatsheaf is easy to find.

You play on a triangular, raised section at the front of the pub, just to the left of the front doors - this was still populated by tables and chairs when we arrived, but the friendly, helpful staff soon shifted these.

There is room for 2 - 3 cars round the back, and the load in through the smokers patch then straight down the pub is relatively painless.

On stage are 2 double sockets in the back corner, so you will need plenty of extension leads.

They also have a drop down screen if you use a projector (as we do) so no need to try and put up a white backdrop.

Brian the manager is a diamond and runs the place brilliantly, and the punters in there know there is a band on and have come to party with you - we had dancers virtually from the off. They don't appreciate it too loud however!

Performing times (on a Friday night atleast) are 9.15 - 10.00 then a 15min break and back on at 10.15 - 11.00 with a shout out for last orders at ten to eleven. With a couple of encores we were all done for ten past eleven.

By the time we had packed up, Brian and his crew had got all of the punters (apart from a couple who were obviously staying for a while!) out, and the load out was absolute heaven, with no 'scuse me,' 'coming through' or 'mind the doors' whatsoever!!

Oh, and a very acceptable pint of 'Whatever!' aswell.

Love to all

I work no more than a mile from that place, ive been in more than twice to see about a gig and got absolutely nowhere, I was recommended by a friend to go in (as he knows what we are like and is a local)
Each time ive asked to speak to the elusive Brian and hes always been busy.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Ive played there before years ago with another band/differant management, wasnt a particularly busy pub back then, dont know what its like now, quite decent inside now compared to what it used to be like.
