Acoustic music in and around Glossop appears to be going from strength to strength in 2011. Following the success of recent monthly concerts hosted by the newly created Glossop Club Acoustic at The Grey Mare in Charlesworth, Club organisers Barry Barlow and Glen Barnard have now decided to rotate venues around Glossop centre to give local people across the valley the opportunity to support what is becoming a very popular and established social event.The Club which exists to promote local acoustic music of varoius kinds including tradional folk, new age, blues and blues grass meets every month and is gaining both fans and performers from all around High Peak.
The next event will be held on Thursday May 5th at The Star Inn on Howard Street in the centre of Glossop. Headlining the latest GCA concert is original singer songwriter Neil Fisher who will be performing tunes from his latest album 'Chordweiner'. Several special guests are already confirmed including ex The Affliction of Margaret musician Robert Smith, guitarist Tim Malkin, The Hilary Felstead Duo and Banjo Dave.Although the scheduled official acts wont be on stage until after 8.30pm there will be an open mic session starting at 8.00pm which will be open to any local musicians who fancy singing or strumming an instrument in an acoustic setting. Admission is free from 8pm and in addition to the live music on offer , free refreshments and a good selection of quality beers and real ales will be on offer throughout the evening.

Cold Flame Acoustic - live at THE BLUEBELL WOOD GAMESLEY
Glossop Club Acoustic are also promoting a showcase concert three days later. On Sunday May 8th members of Glossop's highly regarded Cold Flame will be performing a teatime free acoustic concert at The Bluebell Wood on Glossop Road.The recently reopened popular local venue which used to be known as The Old Tup has been putting on monthly music acts which have proved to be successful with the punters. Cold Flame have recently been recording a new acoustic album of original tunes which is scheduled for mid May release and Sundays concert will be an opportunity to perform some of this new material live.The concert starts at 5pm and is likely to feature some special guest musicians.
