Watched Metalleeka last night as the title suggests. To set my stall out a little here, I'm not the hugest Metallica fan there is, but I do like them. It helps when the band are friends too. ias? No. This isn't a glad-handing exercise.
I saw a defining moment in the evolution of a VERY good band last night. I'd seen them 3 times with Aaron on drums. Excellent young player but with an enormous amount to learn about the word "band". Last night there was an almost audible "click" as things came together. I've never seen them tighter.
Despite the fact that Scott was on home turf and making Guinness disappear like the bastard son of Ollie Reed and Paul Daniels, there was that tightness and accuracy you only get when a band trust the other component parts. Ty is the perfect engine room player for this band, and his double bass work is particularly noteworthy. He also hits like a proper rock drummer.
Well done lads. You just stepped your game up a long way.
