Mick Atherton (MA AMPS) is no longer working with Frank at Underground SAI so you might find getting items repaired somewhat difficult.

The guy who both my father & I use is first class, unfortunately he is based out in Catforth north of Preston, a bit a of a trek.

He is the only guy I know of who could repair Mackie speakers, everybody else I spoke to said you have to send the complete amp/module back to Mackie and they will send you a replacment at the cost of £180.00 (SR1530's)..........Ouch was the word.

Anyway, spoke to Ste, no probs leave it with me. By the end of the week he had spoken to Mackie USA had the part shipped over and all done & dusted for the deal of the century price of £50.00. Happy days.

Another job he did for me last year was to sort out a Peavey Reknown 1x12 160w combo that I had bough second hand off eBay, it worked ok but the volume pot was either on or off, I also wanted a direct to speaker DI fitted.

Ste repaired the suspect volume pot, cleaned all the others fitted a direct DI input, also, whilst he was trying the amp out he noticed there was slght distorsion coming from the speaker when the sound dissapted, he removed the Scorpion speaker to find the cone had become oval and was rubbing on the other part of the speaker causing this sound issue. Now most shops/repairers would tell you that you need a new speaker, not Ste, he removed the speaker, removed the cone and re-shaped and then re-fitted it in to the speaker.

That amp is being used every weekend and sometimes midweek all over the UK by my fathers and has been faultless ever since, the price I was charged was agian, £50.00.

Ste also restores AC30's and other vlave equipment, I know he just finished a complete restore of an old Fender Rhodes, Ste currently has a Wharfedale PM, a mid 70's Fender Twin and a couple of valve effect pedals of mine that he is repariing, thankfully I wont be expecting any massive bills that you get when having shops repair stuff.
