The Establishment in Widnes granted extended licence despite Cheshire Police fears over crime
Aug 19 2010 by Mark Smith, Runcorn and Widnes Weekly News

A NIGHTCLUB which police claim is the source of half of all town centre violence has been given the green light to extend its opening hours.

At a meeting of the council’s special regulatory committee on Tuesday, the Victoria Square venue was given the green light to extend its opening times to 5am on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as any Sunday before a Bank Holiday.

But plans for an outdoor drinking area were thrown out at the meeting.

Addressing councillors, PC Chris Carney, Halton’s licensing enforcement officer, said there had been 49 incidents at the venue in the eight months since it opened, including 22 violent incidents – four of which were classed as ‘serious’.

These included an attack on a police officer during which his teeth were broken, and an alleged assault which left a man hospitalised with a fractured eye socket.

He said he had compared the number of crimes recorded at the venue with those at 12 other night spots in the town centre.

He said: “Out of 13 bars, just one of them is the source of more than 50% of violent crime in the town centre.

They'd have loved you here...he he he...Gary

You well best out of that gents.

We looked into playing at there earlier this year but after a little digging we decided against it.

Full of the worst type of Chav scum (every town has them by the way)

Best wishes

John
