Loving this

Hi There.

I know this won't be to everyone's taste but has anyone been watching the Transatlantic Sessions on BBC4 on a Friday night?

Some of the finest folk and bluegrass/Cajun musicians in the world in a cottage playing a mix of Irish, Scottish, Country, and Bluegrass songs.

I am new to all this type of music but I have to say I am loving it.

Jerry Douglas on Dobro is the EVH of the instrument and Ali Bain is superb as well. They have had James Taylor singing on there so I am hopeful Alison Krauss (Hubba hubba) will be on there soon

Not RAWK music but very nice to listen to. I am going to start buying the accompanying CD's from Amazon.

Best Wishes

John

there is also over 40 NWBs playing on friday night that are worth seeing. surely tv programmes can be recorded so they can be seen on a dead night./ no wonder venues are closing

Erm....

The reason I am unable to leave my house on a Friday I have a severely disabled daughter and my wife works Friday nights so I have to look after her.

I would love to go and see NWB bands any night but as I gig most Saturdays it means I can't.

At NO TIME did I suggest that this programme couldn't be recorded and I knew that most bands do work Friday and Saturdays. I was not suggesting people should stay in and watch it, only that I love it. Your comments about venues closing have no relevance to my original blog.

mybe not totally, but would effect the turn out of folk turning out to watch live music and therefore venues not been able to continue to afford to put live music on. i dont mind any body staying in but that is up to them for what ever reason ,but to try and encourage others to stay in to watch the telly i just cant understand that.we are a very busy pub and fridays we never fail to go out to support other bands and venues, its hard enough at this moment in time for pubs to encourge people to to venture out. why dont you put the blog on after you have seen it and say " did any body watch ( bbc 4 whatever) last night etc. yourself has a band member should understand this when bands get a poor turn out and then you read someone is advertising a telly programme.

Sorry....

Where did I "encourage others to stay in and watch the telly"?

All I said was HAS ANYONE BEEN WATCHING the Transatlantic Sessions on a Friday night??????

Did I say "You all must stay in and watch this show every Friday"? Let me say again that I know that most people in bands (who to be fair this blog was aimed at) work on a Friday.

I think you may be too over sensitive about this here.

I know you have a vested intertest but to jump on my blog and have a go at me is a little rich.

Please dont think you can tell me what to write on my blogs by the way. I will write what I want without your help.

@ Spidermoneys:

It's a great show but make sure you record it. Wouldn't want you putting venues out of business on my all powerfull recommendation would I

@Hindley Arms:
