Mothership: The best of

Got this last Sunday for Fathers day................

God they were brilliant.

Sadly I never got to see them live.

Any other fans on here?

Best wishes

Despite my synth-pop pretence I still think they did some absolutely belting tunes. Whilst not all of it is my cup of tea, I love stuff like Immigrant Song, Kashmir, Dazed and Confused. Awesome! You don't get bands like them anymore.

Liked all the "numbered albums", 2 and 4 especially, then never really got into much else. Probably listen to some again one day and be blown away!!!

Led Zep 1V was the highlight for me. Still listen to it on a regular basis. Not a big fan of the later stuff.

@ Jez, didn't we jam through a bit of rock n roll last night??? Thought we were edging it into the set lol.

I got to see them at the O2 for the one off gig, it was by far the best gig I have ever seen, simply outstanding, Jason Bonham was incredible on drums, very emotional experience

@ Bass-tard

You have no idea just how jealous I am of you right now. ;-)

@ Jez:

Try Achilles Last Stand or Kasmir. Trampled Underfoot is incredible as well.

@ Lie Ability

"Mozo" or "Led Zep 4" as I still call it is an awesome album

Loads of great songs by them.

@John - Kashmir, for me unfortunately, is a radio switch off tune!! I think it may be cos its played to death on rock radio and I'll be screaming for Going to California or something a bit different!!.

@Alan - the chances of getting Zep in our setlist is on a par with John Bonham guesting on drums at Daves wedding!!! lol

Bought this for my dad about 2 christmases ago, think ive listened to it more than him! I think they really were the greatest rock band ever, stuff The Beatles! (Dont hate, just my opinion!)

I fooking LOVE led zep! the first four albums are, to my mind, the greatest consecutive body of work in rock. I still listen to those on a very regular basis :) Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffitti are both tremendous albums as well if a little more ponderous than 1-4. Presence was pretty decent I guess and In through the out door was, well, a bit shit. It is worth checking out the Song Remains the Same DVD - some great live performance and the hilarious sequence with Robert Plant swashbuckling his way to a damsel in distress thats like his doppelganger.

I never try to say that everyone should like a band because thats an unrealistic expectation and everyones different. But for led zeppelin they should bloody well try ;)

Funny thing this; like The Rolling Stones and The Doors I just don't get Led Zeppelin.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think they're crap, they just don't grab me at all. There are one or two tunes I like, but I can pretty much take them or leave them.

Hmmm - time for a blog me thinks.....

"kashmir" i really don't "get"-can't understand why the adulation?...but everything else is pure magic. and "awesome" doesn't come anywhere near describing this-has my hair doing "mexican waves". ;-D

Kashmir and Trampled under foot definately do it for me and that's why they're in our set. Always seem to go down well.

since i've been loving you is my fave

zep stayed faithful to rock and blues when all the "progressive" stuff came in the 70s

progressive as in self indulgent and the main reason for punk!!

i dont get early genesis and most of yes apart from going for the one and as for emerson lake and palmer??

imagine going to a gig to hear the greatest hits and being told "we're gonna give you pictures at an exhibition??" wtf???
