Mick Nash Video Nashup

One man, One guitar, nowhere to hide!

Have just finished editing Mick's Nashup (did you see what I did there....did ya?) from his gig last weekend.

I'm still taken by the extent to which one man and one guitar can fill a room. Anyhow, this has been the trickiest to film and edit so far - much experimenting with angles and colour bleaching. The room itself wasn't the best of backdrops to film against (multiple light sources and ugly paintings etc - sorry venue!). Thankfully, Mick wasn't in the least phased by my cavorting around pointing cameras up his nose, or standing on chairs with it hoisted aloft (note to self....arm really aches half way through song....choose short songs only for overhead filming.....).

Here's the video (in glorious high definition)

And a few more photos which I took for Mick whilst the camcorder was tripod mounted:-

If anyone else wants the Tubthumper treatment just message me - I've a bit of a "waiting" list but I'm trying to keep costs down by working locally (Burnley/Pendle/North Manchester).

Next Up is The Cheating Hearts this afternoon at the Talbot. It won't hurt a bit....

Mick was a treat to work with. I'm always more nervous of the people than doing the photos and filming but no such worries with him.

The power in his voice blows me away every time I listen to that first song in particular.

tubthumper,

excellent work again i have seen a few of your video mashups they are very good and efective as a demo to potential venues, must try and get you down to one of our gigs sometime.

mick,

top notch, there is nothing better than a man alone with a guitar it is how rock n roll started.

i have to go now im making a trip to see the slightly famous glitterballs at the Bowling green Wigan,

if anyone comes down you will be able to tell who i am
i will be " the man at the back as a matter of fact with eyes as red as the sun "

Cheers Daz - that's pretty much the logic behind the mashup....I'm working on the basis that most people have a 30 second attention span! It works (arguably!) for advertisers. I figure not everyone wants to sit through several 4 minute whole video clips to satisfy themselves as to whether they want to book or watch a band.

I'd be happy to do one of your gigs (love a bit of Dr Feelgood and Rory Gallagher), blues rock is very much my thing.

PS I'd get your eyes seen to if I were you - I'm pretty sure red isn't a good sign.

Massive thanks to Nic for the Nashup.
Those of you who are due for the Tubthumper video treatment can take it from me that it's painless...you won't know she's there during the shoot but will be amazed at how many shots she gets.
Looking forward to seeing the Genesish and Cheating hearts Mashup and also all future mashups of which there'll be many I'm sure.
