Evans drum heads

I love Manchester Drum Centre as much as the next person.....but GAK.co.uk have got some great prices on Evans heads at the moment. Maybe they've always been well priced, I don't know, I've only just looked today. But good prices they are.

Just thought I'd share.

Drumshop has amazing prices on evans head packs (approx £27 delivered for a rock or fusion pack). I've bought just about every type to dabble with. The EC2 SST's are a nice alternative to pinstripes - much more life to them but still a good controlled rock thud. The G1 clears make great tom reso heads and the G1 and G2 coated are good competition for Emperors and Ambassadors.

The ones I haven't tried yet (as they never seem to do them in packs) are the G+ coated.

eg cgi.ebay.co.uk/.../120734980463

Don't forget to buy through the nwb site!

@Tubthumper - I love the EC2 SSTs. I have those on my toms with G1s on the reso head. EMAD coated on the bass drum with an Aquarian floating damper head on the reso. I'm usually fiercely brand loyal but left Remo for Evans about 12 months and I've never been happier.

I don't really do brands. Instead I'm afflicted by "new toy" syndrome and just like trying everything! I keep flitting between the Powerstroke 3 (the first single ply bass drum head I'd ever tried) which is awesome on my 20" bass drum, and the EMAD which I find works better on my 22" bass drums. Bass drum reso heads tend to be stock display heads though I have been dabbling with a kick port which Nick, our banjoist sound engineer gets all skittish about as he's never sure where to stick the bass drum mic.....Oh i do like to tease him.....

I think you might actually be me:

Drummer - check
Evans - check
Kick port - check
Photographer - check
Videos - check
Golf - check
Mates with Wick - check
BMW - check

Please dont tell me you use Vic Firth 5Bs!!

Even more scary, you have a Yamaha in natural birch finish. I used to own one in the exact same config shown on your avatar. If the floor tom is hung rather than on legs.....I going into hiding.

Tubthumper and ST - never in the same place at the same time.

I use Vic Firth 5B's (though not exclusively!)

I have the Yamaha in natural birch finish with both a 20" bd and 22" bd depending on how noisy I want to be and my floor tom is..........legless............

Also, my right ear sticks out a bit and I sometimes fart in public.

Phew, we're safe. It's my left ear that sticks out.

Way too much talent between us for one person. No one could cope with being that awesome. I barely cope as it is.

I gave up guitar cos all the guitarists were well boring. Always on about gadgets and electric things. I tried bass but that was two strings even easier and they were thick too.

I love you Al, can I call you Al?
