Cold Flame release new acoustic studio album this week
Glossop music stalwarts Cold Flame are pleased to announce the release of a brand new acoustic studio album which also stands as a tribute to a former band member.Following recent mixing and mastering at Shipwreck Studios in Glossop with recording engineer Paul Walster the new album comes out this week on Monday July 4th..
Entitled 'The Acoustic Collection' the album has taken over two years to complete with recording sessions at several locations in the area.It features eighteen original acoustic instrumental and vocal tunes as well as a rendition of famous folk songwriter John Martyn's tune 'One day without you'. Violins, flutes, mandolins, guitars and harmony vocals merge into a heady musical cocktail that ranges from gentle celtic ballads to rowdy foot stomping jigs and reels.Hints of Jethro Tull and Fairport Convention abound. There are brand new mixes of some previously released material as well as newly recorded tunes performed by the current Cold Flame acoustic line up. There are also contributions from past Flame members Peter Cheetham on flute and Simon Dowling on guitar.
When the band first decided to record some acoustic pieces for an album back in 2009, the very popular local multi instrumentalist David Simpson was very much a part of Cold Flame.David sadly passed away in April 2010 after a short illness but some of David's musical contributions both as a songwriter and musician are included on the new album. The Acoustic Collection album is now available direct from the band contact email info@cold-flame.co.uk at all Cold Flame gigs,Glossop Club Acoustic sessions and by contacting the band here at northwestbands.
To celebrate the release of The Acoustic Collection, Cold Flame are playing several showcase and festival concerts in the north of England over the next three months. Prior to these shows the acoustic line up will be playing an all too rare local concert this coming Saturday July 9th at The Bulls Head in Tintwistle near Glossop. Admission is free with the band on stage at 9pm. Support comes from singer songwriter Neil Fisher. For further details contact the pub on Glossop 853365.
