"xmas in new york"-pogues ( i probably can't even get the titlle right on thatone-SFW!!! lol!!)

I get what you mean about the Violin in Young at Heart..it just irritates me too.

Not going to be Mr Popular here ...but a couple of Oasis songs especially the one where he rhymes cousin with oven and blister with sister.

I can't quite get with Keane's 'somwhere only we know' either...

I could be at this all night, but will limit it to topical things. Anything performed by the Beatles, the Stones or Bob Dylan.

I didn't use to mind the missessus playnig tunes by Adele but now the tone of her voice just really grates on me and is begining to sound 'whiny' and contrived.
God I'm a whingeing old git me..

if metallica like thin lizzy why couldnt they have done another one instead haha?, would love to hear them do one of the others i know James and Kirk love em, when i saw em on the cunning stunts tour they insisted on playing thin lizzys jailbreak album thru the PA!

i dont dislike whiskey in the jar, but its one of those wouldnt miss playing it much songs..although under a lie detector i worry the polygraph would tell otherwise..i still cant decide whether i actually secretly like it.. f**k!!

any and all of them there "house". rap or whatever they call themselves alleged tunes that can't have it played without the words "biatch", "homey", hood" or "brother" or some such in the lyrics.

with james again on metallica's cover of "whiskey"-why they bothered i really don't know-the attempt at an irish accent is laughable!!

and with troll 100 per cent on his choices too.

anything by john "kittenfur" mellancamp.

oh-and as mentioned in a previous blog a while ago-"comfortably numb" -scissor sisters!!! they should have been shot for that, i reckon.

Mmmmm...there's loads of them but my top 10 is-

1. Grease Lightning or anything else from the film.
2. Time Warp - couldn't agree more
3. That Nickbackback song which starts "once there was a girl"
4. Summer of 69
5. Bycicle song (I'm not too keen on Bohemian Rapsody either)
6. Knocking on Heavens door - G&R version
7. anything by Right said Fred
8. Tainted Love - Mark Almond version
9. Up That Bloody Tree - Blamange (a feckin Darrener as well!!!)
10. what you really really want - Spice Girls

Have to disagree with lots of the above suggestions (especially 747) but then again I'm sure that many of you will disagree with mine - and it shouldn't be any other way.

it's been voted in the top 5 songs of all time in the rock n roll hall of fame Daz, it's an incredible piece of songwriting

Avatar

# Posted by Synthy Mike - 06/07/2011, 10:49 (GMT)

I'm afraid I'll have to give American Pie another vote, I can't stand it. Profound lyrics or not, I've never liked it and my heart sinks whenever it comes on the radio or on a night out. Runners up are "Build Me Up Buttercup" by the Foundations and "Stuck in the Middle With You" by Stealer's Wheel. If I never heard those three songs again in my life I'd be a happy man!

I'll go stand with the above who nominated Dylan, and the Beatles. Ruined a perfectly nice meal out once with them being played all night. Add a good mix of anything where the 'singers' warble (X Factor esp) Telly = off CD's = on. Don't get me started on bloody Halo or what ever it's called. The neighbour loves it.

I've given this much thought before me and a friend actually compiled a playlist on Spotify of 'terrible songs', it currently stands at 496 tracks.

Ha ha ha ha. SAW records are hilarious. Though not without conspiracy. Now, if you've got the equipment, rip "I Should Be So Lucky" to your PC and try slowing it down by about -5 semitones (or -7) and tell me that you don't hear Rick Astley. I also note how Kylie's post-SAW voice is very different. Was she "doing a Milli Vanilli"?
