we have just played two of the biggest biker events in the country to thousands

yeah bit of a rant but we seem to be short of gigs at this present time and can,t understand how come as we stated we have played 2 gigs recently to thousands . well we won,t beg a venue for a gig or drop the fee just to secure a gig ,so we will keep plugging away as they say ,if someone wants a top class band that can do covers and original material give us a shout you wont be dissapointed,if not we will have more time to practice what we do and enjoy the time not gigging watching some other bands play and of course drinking ,cheers glad thats off my chest anyway

no terry ,its not intended as a slur on any band on here its just our stance on things in general,we would rather a venue want to put the band on and the punters watch what we do wether thats to 1000,s or just a small crowd, we play clasic rock don,t hide the fact that we do and understand its not everyones cup of tea,we dont change what we do to suit a booking we do what we do very well as our results have shown in the past ,we get sick of contacts from promoters /venues who try to dictate what we do and ask us to play just covers at venues ,thats not what we do we are an original band who do some covers ,thats what we were on about sorry if i did not get the point accross first post, but cheers for the comment.

@ Helvelin..Im not casting any aspersions either, but i have it on good authority that a 5 Piece Classic Rock band undercut us a couple of months back, and our trio only wanted a ton.But then again, it could be venue bollocks.

I cant understand it either, (I dont want any swollen heads over my next comments), having seen you, venues should be falling over them selves to book you, If I was asked to select a few really good classic rock bands that I have seen over the past 12 months in the area, Helvelyn 2 would be at the top of the list, its got me stumped, I have to say that if any venues that like classic rock bands reading this blog, and has not either booked or seen Helvelyn 2, you can book them with confidence (I hav`nt said this because I know them, which I dont, its because its true).

hi terry, no we understand it is a cut throat industry we are only a three piece outfit and we dont go below what is recognised as the going rate and in most cases would request more than the base figure ,we belive we are value for money ,we have never had a bad reception at any gig ,we may have been too loud for some places but thats the kind of music we play,we don,t do bartering for gigs but we know some bands who do,we would just rather stay well clear of this practice as its not good for bands or venues as we belive you get what you pay for it this buisness, cheers its been good to have a little rant, well thats over , we are at the hindley arms on saturday and a good gig in a great venue to a great crowd always lifts you spirits cheers.

Have you guys tried getting support slots for rock bands at the Academy, Apollo or MEN? You guys would blow the bulk of support acts I've seen at gigs.

hi synthy mike , thanks for the comment ,its very hard to get the right contact details for the people who sort these support slots out we have supported some great bands over the last few years but after having great feedback from the crowd there and promoters sometimes we have been accused of trying to showboat the headline act by putting on a better performance than them and this leads to us not getting repeat gigs with headline band. sounds daft to us but we just put on our best show and thats all we can do ,we wont play below par just to make someone look better than they are, even though we are always appreacative to be given the chance to share a stage with top class artist,we have found that people don,t like giving you contact details so we are plodding on in the faint hope that someone with a bit of clout will eventually see us and accept that we are worth a shot and give us a chance to show what we can do to a larger audiance untill then we will enjoy every gig we play as thats what we want do play its all about the buzzz.

That's really bad to hear that you've having trouble with promoters, the line about upstaging the headline act is ludicrous - it's their fault for being outplayed, not yours! It's the same with all genres, finding promoters to believe in you is solid. We're trying to get a tour organised at the moment, it's a nightmare!

Have you tried getting in touch with Rocksector records from Bury?

Undercutting is the scourge of the circuit, so short sighted it makes my blood boil. Good acts deserve good fees.

@the villains I totally agree, "because were worth it", to quote a few tv ads.

You stick to your guns, i don't agree with bartering the fee down to a porky scratching just to secure a gig or just because of the fun factor. Yes it is fun, I play in 2 bands and the gig fee politics seem worlds apart, hence why one is busy and the other isnt! Fun is good, but i still believe in just rewards for the time, effort and cost we all put into it. For those who sell their souls for peanuts, i will see you in hell!
