When will it be replaced ??
gotta be somthing that takes its thrown Dont you think ??
Thrown....????...did you ever attend school... Sex on Fire...shit song, only sung late on by pissed sheeple so the bands egos will be inflated beyond the stratosphere...until next week when the same crowd will be cheering another band playing exactly the same songs...and I bet they can't remember the bands name next day...oh to be popular with the flock...bbbaaaa...
But a good time had been had by all!
Fair enough then --8-)
We still play it. I like it. Most people on here now hate the song because they think it's cool to hate the song. A new breed of sheeple!
Perhaps he meant "Thrown it all away" Phil Collins,I'll shut the door on me way out.....T
We always rely on The Buzzcocks, Chuck Berry and Guns n Roses for that feeling. Never fails.Agree with LGIT. Sex on Fire is rubbish. WTF is it supposed to mean, anyhow?'Thrown' is probably Freudian. Fucking song should be chucked in the bin.
LMAO Terry - that would be "Throne it all away"
@ST - Most people on here now hate the song because they think it's cool to hate the song. A new breed of sheeple Really? VIVA LA COMMUNITY - LOL
@NR "The fucking song" Sex on fire... - thats it- got it in one LOL
@TCS - Yeah, it's a bit like the Coldplay haters. Or jazz haters.
@ST - Maybe, but I wouldn't post the following blog......... Live jazz tonight in Darwen for the TINY MINORITY who are NOT in the new breed of sheeple who think it's cool to hate Jazz! Or maybe I should! haha Ironic that the rather inflamatory comment comes from your new title "ST - VIVA LA COMMUNITY" Sorry if I read it wrong, it just made me chuckle. One love
@TCS - It wasn't meant to be inflamatory and I don't see a link between what I said and "community spirit". I was only pointing out that sometimes people choose to dislike things for the wrong reasons. That said, you can have opinions and still be a part of a community.Anyway, as long as it made you chuckle :oD
lol i kantt spel and i dint go skool .. i waz screemin to GnR in my bedruum
@ST - I know that it wasn't meant to be inflamatory but............................ MOST PEOPLE ON HERE now hate the song because they THINK IT'S COOL to hate the song. A new breed of SHEEPLE.................................................. Well, to me that sounds like a pop at most people on here and not very community spirited. Not that I'm offended of course but yes the irony did make me chuckle.
@TCS - Ok ok, I concede it was poorly worded!! Not a pop at anyone. More a sweeping generalisation :oD
Take my pedantic steak with a pinch of salt ;-)
Sex on Fire is not a song I hear very often as I don't have the CD or listen to a radio any more (it's an age thing I think) so I can tolerate it on the odd occasion I hear a band play it 'Any' song that is performed well by a good band would normally receive my applause, I remember WHATEVER doing a fine version of SOF...but some songs are completely over-played which really bores me...Teenage Kicks is now a song I loathe with a passion because it's become a standard for almost every band on the planet...for me, it's a song for beginners or kids in their first band, like 'Smoke on the Water' was in my youth... I wonder how many bands out there think 'they' are wonderful because the Bud wielding Shirts & Peroxide Barbies clap and sing along...loud, out of tune and pissed... It's funny how many bands who know me personally say ''here's one for Gary'' when they introduce TK, I always walk out for a smoke break... I saw CATDOG last Friday, now these guys are a 'real' band...they wouldn't be seen dead playing a 'sheeple pleasing' song...they don't need to because their musical and technical ability allow them to select 'better' songs...no need to rely on cheesy 3 chord pop tunes to gain applause... But, we are all different and have different musical tastes...I accept that...and if you want to play 'popular' songs to the sheeple then fair enough...fill your boots and milk the applause...and enjoy it... Just don't expect any praise or respect from me...entertain me, don't bore me...
Hmmmm.......Sex On Fire. Tricky one for me, I like the song, but I'm a bit tired of playing it. People still request it and want to hear it though, and at the end of the day (IMHO) we are there to provide a service and to entertain, not to self indulge and isolate the punters. So it's most likely gonna be there for a bit yet! :-) Frankie
We had a request to do it as we were saying thanks and unplugging at a wedding last week (it's still in our "full" set list) and it did go down a storm. We didn't play TK - saving that for this sat night!!! lol:0)
We're fed up of it, BUT if it gets asked for, then we'll do it. Ultimately we are there to entertain and the landlord/lady usually respond better to a venue full of dancing drunks than muso critics stood at the bar shaking their heads.I've got an originals band for when I want to be a purist.I do see the tedium aspect but if you throw in the old economic times yawnfest then I'd expect a pub/club/festival etc wants a room full of people having a good time to tunes they know and lets face it the majority of folk who get up and dance are the ones who want to obvious stuff a lot of the time. Before the argument comes that a great band can play anything and get everyone involved, I agree to an extent and we throw in a load of lesser knowns (our choices) to balance out the mainstream. It depends on your venue, some folk just aren't as refined as your good selves.BenV
It's horses for courses. We played it at The Bottom Bull, Bolton because we were asked for it, time and time again. It is a crowd pleaser at the right venue, so why not? Rick.
I neither like nor dislike Sex On Fire. Most of the bands I've seen play it however do not play it correctly. (i.e. with the timing strictly to the recorded version). Who knows, KOL may not even play it as recorded.Another band who have weird strummings are Mumford and Sons .... very difficult to play some of their tunes as recorded. (Well I say some, two I've had a go at)Not having a go, just an observation.
@willow. Your observation is accurate; the beginning is not as easy as SOME people think. Stevo
it's also not as easy as some people play!!in full slime mode now:0)
Heres a pic of us the other night ,when asked to do Sex on fire.[IMG]
I look like the one on the left whatever song we're asked to play. It's me "we're not fecking karaoke" face
Oh your being a bit hard on yourself.Havent you got some hair and specs. My coats already on Nic...T
@willow about 18 month ago you predicted the mumford and sons uprising, good call sir! i simply cannot get my head around how that cuntry-bumpkin fucker strums a weird pattern over a normal time thing. AND THEN he goes and sings as well git
i before e except after c ........... now THAT'S weird!!Benjamin Netto and Yahoo ... thank you very much squire ...... and yes .... it is terrifically annoying. I can't play Little Lion Man (I think) at all like they do!!
