when a venue phone you up and tells you they have lost their ents licence, gone bump etc.

We were booked to play in two small venues this weekend with our acoustic set .....

Both venues are run by the same person.

We get a TEXT on Wednesday telling us that they have to cancle the gig on Friday as neighbours have been complaining about the noise level.

'It's ok we have still got Saturday & Sunday's gigs' ..... to our thoughts.

Then today we get another TEXT from the same person saying that Saturdays gig is off due to the same reason as they have got a wedding next weekend, what this has to do with this saturday I don't know.

Has anybody else (bands or venues) had experiences of this sort of thing? Being cancled for reason X Y & Z at the very last minuet?

Just interested to find out.

Unlucky chaps, but what's the point in giving this information without naming the Swan er venue...
Would you warn us all about a hidden speed camera without naming the road...????
I don't think many of your venues are well know or used on the NWB circuit because you are on the 'Southern' extremities of the region, but it's still nice to share 'all' information, good or bad...

I've certainly have had this happen to me and with other bands I know. I've been seeing it happen more recently than any other time, which I would love someone to explain to me. However, on the occasions its has happened it has been my own fault for not checking out the venue in greater detail, or by leaving the job to someone with less experience in sniffing out a rat. I'm a bit cautious about naming venues as a mates band is playing at a venue this sunday, that I and others have had the same problem with. When I quizzed them about this, it turns out the venue is in the good hands of a promoter who really does know what they are doing. Just by knowing the promoter, I know people (myself included) will show up.
