ohh, negativity , lets do it
i like to find something valid in most music but while im thinkingabout it lets vent those band names that really grind your gears, any genre.. after 10 seconds i had to press the back button, nearly retched
The Who !!!!
The Feeling and The Hoosiers- Don't know anything about them but their singers voices give me the arseholes....
cold play and simply red
Take That, how are they classed as being a band!
Oasis and Oasis
Off the top oif my headThe BeatlesThe StonesThe WhoGuns n RosesMetallica
The Sex Pistols, The Smiths and Def Leppard
haha this is interesting!hey Daz what offends me about Coldplay is their smugness, even more than the tunes! especially over the Satriani thing
not that i dont like em, but ive tried hard to like Nickelback, and failed, bought their "highly recommended" latest cd, at first i thought ok, then after a few listens i thought this is total pish, anyone wanna swap it for a pint of Holts?..
the goombay dance band
the beach boys.
OASIS and the pair of Gallagher TWA*S
musical youth
men without hats
zigue zigue sputnik
anything motown, Megadeath,ThinLizzy
U2 Smug, boring AND shite AYP
U2 and Coldplay
who are smug, boring and shite Al ?? were they 70s like emerson lake and palmer??
INXS.............. HAWKWIND after their second album.
youve just reminded me, aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhwhen they played this in Jillys once i nearly went home F**K OFF!
The Smiths - Music to die to.Bruce Springballs - A complete wankerGenesis - BoringU2 - Do gooding two faced fucking shit bagsNeed I go on?
Queen, Pink Floyd, Genesis, ELP, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Status Quo. That's enough for now.
with Steve B on this one, I havwe never "got" Bruce Springsteen at all. Sold more feckin records than I ever will though!!! lol:0)
Kaiser Chiefs and U2
u2 definitely, and , of course KISS!!! ;-/
May cause up set but beatles...cant stand em!!! Oh and the usual U2
Coldplay Snow Patrol Radiohead Manic Street Preachers Kean To me they are all the same - MOR and a little whingy whiny. But the main big acts that I don't get is QUEEN.....I appreciate what they do but there is something very offputting about them - and David Bowie - IMO just one good track on every album exept for the one with The Laughing Gnome on! That album is very clever.
@Steve Blease - re: The Smiths - like I said on a previous blog "I think that you will come round eventually, you are just in denial. Give it a couple of years and I'm sure we'll see you walking down the high street with daffs in hand paying homage to the Mozzfather! hehe"
Give me the Goombay Dance Band before U2 any day. I KNOW U2 in theory are good, it's just not a theory I subscribe to. Unfortunately it's probably more to do with Bonio and Edgy being prize c@cks...Spent 25 years not listening to them as much as possible...
I really don't get Thin Lizzy. Played in a few bands where they've been complusory and despite having to learn songs i still don't see the fascination. The other one is Simply Red. I just can't stand the way Hucknall looks!!
blimey U2 are winning here!
kaiser chiefs get on my pip too, ive got diplomatic immunity them from listening to em LOL
@ Posted by The Cottonhouse Shakers - 30/08/2011, 21:23 (GMT)You see me with flowers mate that means someone's died. LOL
I think U2 are wining because they are mega rich fuck face retarded twats that tell us to send money all over the world to this that and the other while they bask in all the glory of being fuck face retard twats. Everytime Bone-on opens his yap I feel I need to shove something in it.
U2. They used to be a pretty good rock band. Now they're more cartoon than the gorillaz. Also the latest crop of "super" groups (Chickenfoot, Crooked Vultures, Black Country Communion) bring nothing new to the table and really disappointed me. None of them are the sum of their parts. Don't start me on R.E.M.
You aint too keen on em then Steve ? ;-)
Chickenfoot I like, BCC, mmm so so.. Crooked Vultures is just QOTSA with no difference at all.
I think I'd probably enjoy them if they brought something new to the table. It's all the same old riffs rehashed in the same old ways. I want to hear someone like those guys stretching themselves. It all sounds complacent. Of course it doesn't help that I think Sammy Hagar is an utter weapon. lol.
Oh how could I forget, Bob Scruffy Unwashed Dirty Baggy Arse "send all you money to Africa" Geldof. What a self serving parrafin lamp he is.Musically who knows? But Bob, I'm sorry to say, I wouldn't piss up his leg if it was on fire.
like chickenfoots album, but its a little generic, cool enough to enjoy quite a bit tho,BCC are growing on me, them crooked vultures yawn.i like U2, mainly the early stuff and achtung baby is ace, i thought all that you cant leave behind is a great return to form album, since then theyve churned out sheer bilge.
OOOF Mick. I wont hear a bad word against Them Crooked Vultures young man!
good job its not Monday, cos i dont like them, lol
ive just heard chickenfoots new song today, its catpiss, and i like sammy hagar, satch, chad and mike anthony, a lot, well disappointed
Sorry Asa. I've heard every note before. It should have been Grohl writing the songs. Then maybe......
youll get me started on that no one knows song, i like QOTSA, just dont get the massive fascination with that song..
Dont be sorry Mick. You're entitled to your (wrong) opinions. LOLIVER.
anyway arent the beautiful south fucking awful?..
Rob. I concur. As are The Smiths.
"# Posted by ST - VIVA LA COMMUNITY! - 30/08/2011, 22:00 (GMT)Dont be sorry Mick. You're entitled to your (wrong) opinions. LOLIVER."lol. Why I aughta ;o)

i like the smiths, in small doses, got the greatest hits cd with charlie hawtrey on the front, wouldnt buy much more though
"TO MY FACE MO FO ha ha ha ha "
EEK! Class Mick, class!
love the phrase "a complete weapon" gonna use that haha
Sorry Sorry Sorry Sorry Sorry Sorry......but I just listened to that Beautiful South track at the top of the page and I have to admit that I think it's a great track! LOL and LOL again! I'm not very popular on here tonight!
TCS, not to worry mate. Different strokes and all that. I never forgave that Paul Wassizname for the Housemartins. And he's got a gob like a dogs bum :oD
The WhoElbowSimply RedPulpand there's more!!
Saxon!!!!!!!! GRRRRR!
I like U2 too, don't like bono's save the world campaign tho, he should keep that away from the band IMO....can't stand bob dylan or bruce springsteen : -)
I actually quite liked The Beautiful South. There's some fantastic lyrics. And lots of cheese. And anyway, they were possibly the only band where the singer/songwriter shared the band's income equally between all members of the band and which disbanded for reasons of "musical similarities" which Heaton later explained to mean he'd realised they'd started churning out the same old stuff for the best part of a decade. How many bands out there now would be so altruistic as to pack it in on the grounds that their music had become too samey? So even if I hated the band I like their ideals.
Def Leppard, can't stand Joe 'Gladys' Elliot and all that f*cking sugar! Twat! Innuendo
"Gladys" Hahahahahah! Richard, you crack me up bro!
@tubthumper - yes good points. The song 'The Table' has some great lyrics, very clever - that's why I like them. @Mick - I couldn't stand The Housemartins either
@Mick, lol! he should be serving behind the bar at The Rovers Return by now, not been the same since Bet Lynch left or Betty Turpin's replacement perhaps? Innuendo
Simply red ,mick hucknall is a complete twat ,some mates of mine bumped into him abroad a good few years ago in a posh hotel & when they said "hi its mick hucknell we"re from up manchester way the same as you" he said "so what" & ignored them . U2 just because the band got stuck on stage in a giant lemon dicks! emerson lake & palmer,NO! you dont attack keyboards with a knife ? Level 42 ,the worst band i have seen live play ever (it was a big mistake going ),mark king flying around the N.E.C at the end of a rope does f...k all for me .
Didn't know that about the BS. Fair play to them. I recall a couple of years ago Heaton turning up for a TV interview on a pushbike and thought he was either making a point of something or was genuine. I've never thought Morrissey was genuine. He seemed like a pretentious arse and still does.It made me chuckle when the documentary "the importance of being Morrissey" came out. Irony?
Hey Morrisey- if you can't go out tonight coz you haven't got a stitch to wear, then get off your arse and go get a job and buy some? you miserable, whining, flower flinging bastard! FFS. Ooooh that's better! Coming Matron......... Innuendo
Paul Heaton did a bike tour of British pubs in part to promote his solo album and also to no doubt be a bit preachy about the environment. However, he played at a number of pubs along the way (The Royale in Great Harwood being one of them) totally free of charge in return for the pub putting him up. I know quite a few folk who went to The Royale and who say he was a consummate entertainer and a real down to earth chap who just hung out all night with those in attendance.Still, if you can't stand his music fair play! It's not a personality contest - maybe that should be the subject of another blog - who do you really like/respect as an artist but either don't particularly care for their music or used to love it but now find it somewhat lacking. In my experience a blog about "who do you hate but whose music you love" would be pretty redundant - if you can't abide the person you'd have to bloody magnanimous to then be able to rate their music!
@Innuendo - It might take a bit longer for you than it does for Steve but I'd give it...say two and a half years before your quiff and big black specs are on full show. ;-)
I liked u2"s music ( i played bass in a band & we played a couple of ther tracks & i recentley bought the "boy " album box set ) up until bono maybe the band as well turned into self righteous gits eg: the zoo album & tour ,its really bad spinal tap , i like bands that make good music & grow old making good music & dont rest or think they can rest on their laurels ,ok 1 or 2 bad albums but c"mon u2 its 1,2,3,4. Simply red i simply hate the music . ELP i bought "brain salad surgery " as it had a great cover sleeve ..it had a great cover sleeve. Level 42 i saw them live (some mates of mine had a spare ticket) & thats enough ,one of the most unexciting live bands ever & the place was full of yuppies well it was 1986 .
I liked U2 up to Rattle & Hum and then I too disliked the Zoo TV thing with the big tellys and stuff. They became a little bland after that. Those 3 albums - Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree and Rattle & Hum I used to know every track inside out and even though I haven't listened to them for years, I'm sure that I'd still like them.
I dont know their name but they do the "Go Compare" advert on the telly. That lead singer has a face I wouldnt get tired of slapping....CJ
The Undertones --8-)
gary !
I think most of mine have already been mentionedU2ColdplayMetallicaSpringsteenNickelbackbut heres a couple of new ones.... possibly the most over-rated garbage spewers in historyMuseThe Doors
Yeah muse ? whats that all about ,everyones saying they are the new "Queen " of pomp rock? ,i still consider them to be a "radiohead " tribute (well radioheads 1st 3 albums lol!).
The smiths - why does mike sweeney insist on playing them on rock radio,When I was a spotty greebo growing up in the late 70s and early 80s they were exact opposite of what rock fans stood for.The beatles - the biggest over rated band in history, and the first manufactured boy band. They were nobodys until a clever manager gave them stupid haircuts and suits that the youth could copy. Until epstein did that everyone just wore cardigans so no image.U2 - just shit and bono is a knob
Any NWOBHM band all pants- Coldplay The Verve Radiohead Led Zep Bruce Springsteen The Smiths and Daz- ?? Beatles Cardigans - Epstein Haircuts?? You clearly dont know your Beatles history!!!!!
The BeatlesPink FloydU2Simply RedBlurMorrisseyArctic Monkeys
Dr Feelgood,or any other shouty shouty 3 chord predictable twats...T
In no particular orderArctic monkeys - just don't get it at allGuns & Roses - Sad Nazareth tribute at bestRamones - That voice grates on my gag muscleSmiths - isn't it obvious ?
@ andy mackI meant before the beatles artists on tv just stood there wearing cardigans etc with no image.Epstein spotted the need in the market for an image for the youth to copy.
No worries Daz- :-)
Nobody under the age of 40 should be allowed to comment on The Beatles :D
No, make it 50!
I am only 36 but LOVE LOVE LOVE The Beatles- see what I did there- I can however fully understand people not getting it-
@Daz - Mmmmmm, I have to agree with Alec I'm afraid. Do you think that these guys walked down the street like this..........?
or this-
Touche,
U2 and Cold Play for sure, The Edge, Bone-O, It's pure fantasy world. Don't Mind Beautiful South though, might add some to the set lol a S tan
Abba..weirdly depressing.........
I was thinking about this today, and although there's plenty I don't like, U2 already mentioned. I totally forgot UB foooking 40. What a pile of Gnu mire that was.
ABBA? lol, they are/were quite jolly, but they did write a lot of songs about breakign up and stuff I suppose.
Ok my biggest hates are- Human League Depeche Mode Blancmange Howard Jones Erasure Comunards Bros Everything by Stock Aitkin & Watermelon Mark Almond Eurythmics And anything else which comes under the umberella of 'camp rock' from the early to mid 80's. Now THAT's why I'm a big fan of The Smiths, The Pogues, The Proclaimers and all NWOBHM from that period. It was basically anything alternative - including Talking Heads, The Blockheads, early U2, early Simple Minds, The Bhundu Boys - John Peel, Tommy Vance and Andy Kershaw.
Sorry Rob, I just realised that it was you who wrote this blog.... I know that you like some of the above artists ;-)
Simple Red, Morrissey, The Carpenters (can you class them as a band?...music to slit your wrists to!!!)Oh and all of TCS's....saves me repeating them all:-)
@TCS The Bhundu boys - now there was a band! Saw em in Rochdale years ago.. heard that aids had all but wiped them out ............very sad
Nick, you're right, wiped 3 of 'em out apart from lead singer Biggie Tempo who hanged himself in a psychiatric hospital in 1995, and lead guitarist Rise Kagona who is currently living and playing in Scotland. Full of useless shit like that, me.
God what a tragedy.........they spread so much joy. And what a great guitarist. Happy memories
Whats wrong with cardigans?Ive got a wardrobe full of em,I think they call em fleece's now.@ Cottonhouse, Good shout with the clothes thing...T
The Cardigans......now there was a band............
Is this an age thing? Or am I just woefully mainstream? half of this blog could be titled 'famous bands you really love' for me. Hey ho. baaaaaaa
Go for it Steve ,Start one off...T
What and be ridiculed forever? OK then :-)
Thats part and parcel of NWB Steve.F**k em...T
I`ll get my cardigan.............
The Smiths - Morrisey is such a miserable bastard!Guns and Roses - Overplayed, overhyped and the fact that Axl Rose is such a ferocious bell-end.
ferocious bell end! what a great name for a rock band i had one of those once it cleared up with antibiotics
Posted by The Cottonhouse Shakers - 31/08/2011, 15:58 (GMT)Sorry Rob, I just realised that it was you who wrote this blog.... I know that you like some of the above artists ;-)******************you know i love 80s pop cheese, especially stock aitken and waterman hahaat least you didnt say wham are shite LOL
p.s. The Hoosiers are not and NEVER will be a "famous band"
@Rob - Oh Wham....yeah I forgot about them! LOL
@touching cloth & @4most wanted - Yes unfortunately aids has devastated the whole African music scene. Not just aids but other deseases as well. Yes Rise Kagona played a few years ago with Champion Doug Vietch in a Afro Scottish collaboration. Because of The Bundhu Boys (who were brought to our attention by John Peel and Andy Kershaw) I grew a love of African music. Other great bands to have bitten the dust, due to disease, include Remmy Angala and The Four Brothers. The late great Miriam Makeba also passed away recently. Not useless shit at all 4most wanted! Very important shit to me. Watch out for my new project "Shantytown Junction" who play Zimbabwean and Central African dance music. We are supporting Orchstra DC Dansette (who play similar stuff) at Clitheroe Grand on September 16th. Tickets are just £6.
on a similar theme to night trains comment above nobody OVER the age of 30 can commet on arctic monkeys
I never like to say anyone is Sh*t but here are some bands and artists I have never really "got": The Rolling Stones Iron Madien Oasis The Smiths Prince The Beautiful South Guns and Roses Green Day ( Although I love English Punk Rock apart from...) ...The Clash (Sorry Gary) Cream ( again love Clapton solo work) Echo And The BunnymenTheMightyWahThe CoralThe Zutons.... and any other Liverpool band since The Beatles and don't forget I'm a Scouser by birth ;-) Amy Winehouse Duffy George Michael Phew.... Best wishes John
I`m with John and many others ; The Beautiful South - I`d rather listen to silence thanks. Oasis - cock Guns n Roses - whiney voiced bollocks The Smiths- ditto all previous comments Most 60`s merseybeat style bands, gerry and the pacemakers etc.- toss Blur - mockney cockney spew. Anything Elton John has done since 1976. (he was ok before then.) All john Lennon solo stuff. All reggae stuff - sorry, don`t unnerstan` it. Ska - same reason hip hop - ???? Love to all Chris
