Or the reverse of "famous bands you cant stand"

I was bullied into this - honest.
Actually - I wondered whether there was any correlation between age and favourite bands ...
I was reading the blog "famous bands you cant stand" and in contrast, liked the majority of the bands mentioned!
So - that could be related to me being a 'sheeple' (copyright Gary) or could be my age.
Come to think of it, in reality its probably any number of factors too numerous to mention here.

Anyway at the danger of ridicule, derision and exile.

I am 40 and i like ...... (This is reminiscent of an AA meeting)

Coldplay
Muse
Radiohead
The Stone Roses
James
Oasis
Snow Patrol
Level 42
The Eagles

To name but a few.

Led Zeppelin
The Beatles
Black Sabbath
Rolling Stones
Parliament / Funkadelic
Sly & The Family Stone
Jimi Hendrix
Jefferson Airplane
Janis Joplin
Country Joe & The Fish
Hot Tuna
T-Rex
Frank Zappa
The Doors
Nirvana
Pearl Jam

Wolfmother
Black Country Communion
Rush
Deep Purple

I like anything that 'Rocks'...musical tastes should be a personal thing...what 'you' like as opposed to what the mainstream media programme you to like (Sheeple)...
A good song is a good song no matter what the genre or era but in general I agree it is an age thing,
I stopped listening to new music when I hit 40...it just doesn't excite me anymore.
Now I wallow in the nostalgia of the Punk / New Wave / Heavy Metal / Rock n Roll of yesteryear...
Wildhearts and Foo Fighters are fairly modern bands that have the energy I crave, but not many more.

I don't have favourite bands as to do so is simply setting myself up for disappointment as they're all equally capable of mediocrity by degrees and for that reason I won't habitually follow certain bands or religiously buy/download/acquire everything a certain band releases unless and until I've heard enough of it to know I like it. I tend to like certain periods of certain bands' "output".

I will listen to almost anything apart from rap/metal as I just can't connect to it on a technical/creative/socio-political/emotional level whatsoever.

I also struggle massively with a lot of jazz as I just don't get most of it but I try to dip my toe into some of the more accessible bits of it as there's a reason so many great musicians were borne out of the jazz era or influenced by the genre.

The type of stuff most likely to be played in the car on a long drive ranges from Tower of Power/Steely Dan right through Bad Company/Foreigner/Rainbow/Blondie to FooFighters/Lady Gaga/Glee Soundtracks. I'm not proud/prejudiced or manipulated. If it makes my foot tap or want to sing along chances are I will like it and listen to it.

I wanted to be all American and say "product" since so much of it is commercialised shite these days but I thought it unfair to introduce connotations of hair products since so many here are folliclely challenged.

It's impossible to misspell a word that doesn't actually exist.....

......was I not supposed to mention that?

I would like to add Jethro Tull and Stevie Wonder to my list of bands/artistes that aren't really my favourites but that I listen to an awful lot.

Ooooh, Del Amitri and The Feeling, now I do like them.

Keane I just can't take seriously as the singer's head is way too big for his body. He's like a real life bobble head.

@Gary - 1st one especially. The producer (Rick Browde) did that album and Poison's Look What The cat Dragged In at roughly the same time (both debut albums from the LA glam/hairspray rock scene of the late 80sfor people who dont listen to this sort of stuff). He thought FP would be the big act!!! Poison sold millions!!!

Just shows lol

(also from that era, LA Guns 1st album - quality)
