Dunkirk Hall Gigs !

Has anyone had their gig cancelled due to....

Apparently and following on from another earlier blog , our date there on the 24th Sept has been cancelled because
from what i am told !!!!!

Noise abatement army from the council !

Is this the case for anyone else ?

Or have they just heard our reputation of sound levels Ha Ha !

as such

Dakota are now available for Sat 24th Sept

Noone gives a fllying fuck on here anymore, there was a time when members all helped and responded to such blogs etc ,now all it is , lets just all talk shite and drivel , and just get as many gigs as we can without contributeing to the site. its members or helping with Info ,

but yeh ur right - your reputation certainly goes before you...you are fekkin loud haha BUT the situation is shit, too many venues/bands suffering now cos of the noise police!

Having played the place a couple of weeks ago, we had difficulty keeping our levels low enough to satisfy the biddy across the road who is moaning.

It would come as no surprise to find that the place has eventually been served and this would cause her to start cancelling bands.

It's very unfortunate, but I doubt its anything to do with reputation or playing ability.

Bass Bloke has helped so many people on this site and has got involved in more ways than one, with countless Charities that have been organised on this site and away from this site.

Are you upsetting people again ! Guys, he tell everybody to feck off it's his way of showing he cares ! But he's also one of the few people I know that will do anything for anybody, any time. Seems to me the venue needs to re- think about having live music if the complaints are that bad.

Why thank you Nick and also everyone else on here ,and also hello Terry how you doing there,sorry i dont meen to offend , well not all the time ! lol

Getting back to the venue , i have been watching the various reprts over the last few weeks why we ( Dakota ) have had time out , with i must say , Intrepidation , re the noise issue , but was and im still willing to have a go at persuadeing their neighbours lol,
To be fair , i was told in plenty of time and with an apologetic pm to , but was also promised other dates here once the problem has eased a little , so we will have to wait and see how that go;s

Well, Bass Bloke,
As a fellow rotund bass player you'll get no grief from me, but having had a quick peek at the Dakota set list I would doubt the wisdom of a venue with neighbour problems booking a band such as your own. I mean, they can hardly expect said neighbours not to notice, can they?
Loud, and from what you say yourself, I mean LOUD, music is great in its place, but if you're talking about a boozer in a residential area it's no surprise the locals're up in arms - I might well have something to say myself where I in their place, as might you.
Nah, mate, what they want is a nice restrained evening of Country, Soul n Rock n Roll and more, played with restraint and at conversational volume.
Would anybody happen to know of any bands on this site who might undertake to deliver such a thing?

Hi folks, just got in from an open mic night at the Gables Leyland,I forgot it was my anniversary,so i took my wife down to try and smooth it over.Shes watching Coronation st,im on here, speaks for itself dunnit.
All bass players seem to be grumpy,yer right.But im different,Im not only rotund, i play a rotund double bass too.
Sorry for my negative postings before,i just got the red mist for a second and when that happens,i just print what i think straight off the cuff.Hell fire ,if i keep doing this ,i'll need a bodyguard at the curry night....T
