Singer/songwriter new single 'Secret Lover' - definitely worth a listen...
IMO she has a great voice but I am very biased....anyway here's her new single which has just been made available on itunes. I wish her the best of luck.
Wow, I really like that and I'm usually fairly indifferent when it comes to music thats unfamiliar. Great voice as you say....however, there is a striking resemblance to Adele in places (in terms of vocal tone, not the song itself) and I sincerely hope that doesn't stand to her disadvantage. It's always a double edged sword bearing a resemblance to someone big - either the men in suits will exploit it to sell her to the masses, or they may consider there isn't enough room in the market place for another one.I wish her the best of luck anyway. Love the song, love the voice.
cant listen at work but will have a little perusal when i get home tonight. thanks for sharing some new music with the site tho dean, its deffo something this site is lacking
I like the "quiet" vocal bits best ...... really wonderful tone ... but the shouty bits aren't too shouty so that's good as well. I wish her all the bestAlways intrigues me this kind of thing, so, how does this kind of artist "get on"? and what is her aim do you reckon? Picked up by record label? or publishing deal? Does she write her own stuff? Does she gig now, with a band, or tapes (well not tapes but you know what i mean)??!! My local puts solo artists on and there's some good singers there - no personality, some average singers -good personalities, some even have both, and i can see how they would think they'd stand a chance in the "business" ...... however, most of 'em shouldn't really still be playing the Plough for £80 or whatever.I just can't imagine the process for actually making a living out of music (that's an admission of my own laziness and lack of talent by the way, not a comment on Ms Sarah) ........ is it really all down to luck or X factor??It's not something I would buy but I'll see if it's something the current MrssomeBigFish would be interested in.
@ Willow - "Ms Sarah"????? You make her sound like a fem dom!
with my constructive head on id say only that the mix is a bit "ploddy" (heavy handed might be a better term) for my liking but other than that it aint half bad this. yeah the adele comparison is pretty glaringly obvious but unfortunately thats probably gonna get thrown at any young (female) singer songwriter that comes along in the next few years. i blame lazy music journos i love the use of strings and then when the acoustic comes in on its own, great little touch all in all ive heard FAR worse things on radio 1 every day and if shes responsible for creating this from pen to paper to the finished product then yeah shes gonna do bloody well.
having heard, and been mesmorised by sarahs voice and songs at open mic nights, where its just guitar and vocals I must admit ..I think I prefer it that way, but fully appreciate why she's gone down the production route. I think many great singers are best heard live, and sarah's no exception, she has the knack of drawing you in :-)good luck dixie, hope the single flies xx
Thanks for all your feedback guys, I guess only time will tell how far it goes. I wish her the best of luck anyway.
