As we've made it to Monday lunch

Here's something to think about while you digest...

Talking to a customer about his van this morning and, as usual, I managed to steer the conversation round to music. Turns out this guy has a really broad taste in music from rock to reggae to classical, but he just casually drops into the conversation that if he could only listen to one band for the rest of his life, it would be Led Zeppelin.

Now, I'm not a huge Zep fan, but I can see where he's coming from, because they covered so much ground musically.

The only thing is, it leaves me with a biiiiig problem: Tull or Genesis?

How about you?

Love to all

Genesis no question..............No other band comes close for me. There may be bands who have more popular songs and are better players but Genesis will always be MY band.

But you knew I would say that didn't you matey ;-)

I did try and get into Tull but after a few CD's gave up (sorry)

Best wishes

John

If the question is does this leave me with a biiiiiig problem then my answer is no, it does not.

If the question is Tull or Genesis, then my answer is Genesis without a doubt.

If the question is which one band would you pick if you could only ever listen to one band ever again, my answer is Led Zepplin.

Wonder if we'll all make it to Monday evening?

Good luck everyone

Only one band? Hmmmmm. It's a tight call but it'd be Van Halen. PRE Van Hagar.

Sorry guys - the question is: if you could only listen to one band for the rest of your life, who would it be?

The problem between Tull and Genesis is mine alone, and this afternoon I have decided on Tull, just for the sheer range of types of music in their back catalogue.

Don't know how I'm going to survive without Genesis and Thin Lizzy and Foo Fighters and Joe Satriani and Eels and Slash and Rush and UFO and Steve earle and Kate Bush and K T Tunstall and Deep Purple and Dream Theatre and Stone Temple Pilots and CCR and Lynyrd Skynyrd and Sarah Maclachlan and Them Crooked Vultures and Alice In Chains and................

Rick:

Keep an eye out for The Musical Box who are touring The Lamb next year.

I saw them in 2007 and it was just like watching Genesis in 1975. They are THAT good.

Full professional production with the original slideshow used on that tour.

Best wishes

ok then, heathen in the room...

I know this isn't the actual question Al but before i get to that:

recommend some Jethro Tull or Genesis songs/albums to listen to -

I know very little Genesis - Land of Confusion although I prefer the Disturbed cover, I Can't Dance and then others I'd have to check if they were them or Phil Collins solo stuff. And I wouldn't know a Tull song if it bit me in the face.

MIne's Elliott Smith by the way... after much thought I went back to initial impulsive answer on this

@ Stu - 'Aqualung' and 'Songs From The Woods' for starters from Tull
'Wind and Wuthering' and 'Trick of The Tail' from Genesis.

@ Willow - I know!

one band for the rest of my life is a tough one
i struggle between radiohead and brand new

brand new are a new jersey rock band with depth that belies their youth. i absolutely couldn't do without
but then radiohead have been a slow burner for me. i hated em early on, but gro slowly to adore them. there'd be longevity there. but they are a bit depressing so my life would be shortened.
and then i'd probably never get to see a midget's boobs.

so it's brand new

yeah Chris - Brand New my a mile :) - the whole deja entandu album in it's entirety and most of God and the Devil as well - I forget how awesome they are sometimes.

There's some pretty cool acoustic versions of their stuff on youtube which is worth a watch if you've not seen them

@ Stu i'm a jessephile fella! i've seen every vid going by the band, plus lacey's solo stuff and their work with TBS. A truly credible american rock band of the modern era. not many of them about!

I hate his cockyness but damn is he honest.
I was actually at the finch gig where they double-headed in sheffield, and he left the stage early.

"#Oh how I yearn for the atlantic yet i am payed to make girls panic while i sing#.... sorry guys, but goodnight"

800 emos booing
I was in awe - actually a beautiful moment considering the relevance in his lyrics
