but I'm really glad I didn't.....
Genes-ish at Alexanders bar in Chester last night.
I don't know where to start with this - the double drumkit? - the incredible playing? - the authentic sound? - the costume changes?
The door charge of £8, the £3 a pint and the fact it was a school night meant I was umming and aahing about going to see Genes-ish all day and right up to the time we actually hit the road, but I finally realised that if I didn't bite the bullet and do it, I wouldn't get to see them until atleast the middle of next year.
The band are:
John Kirby - Lead Vocal, Drums, Percussion
Neil Gordon - Keyboards
Pete Smith - Guitars
Justin Ryan - Bass, Taurus Bass Pedals
Alex Lindley - Drums
If you like Genesis, you are going to be absolutely in your element at a Genes-ish gig.
Greg (TLD) started the night saying he really didn't know much of the bands work and ended the night adamant that he was going to get the entire back catalogue - and that was from watching a trib!
Duke's Travels, Abacab, Selling England By The Pound, Afterglow, Forth of Fifth, The Carpet Crawlers, I know What I like, Jesus He Knows Me, The Cage, Land of Confusion, Turn It On Again and loads more. All played to a responsive and pretty much packed house (not the biggest venue I've been in!) at a very reasonable volume.
I'm not going to wax lyrical, but if you are a fan of the music, I cannot recommend them enough. The only disappointment was the lack of the usual light show, but that didn't stop the music being superb.

I will definitely be going to see Genes-ish again.
Love to all
