... Wherever you are.

Ok... I very rarely use this site anymore as I don't find it useful and though I have met some great people on here I am not a fan of equally as many... My choice so those who know, know who I like and those who I don't like also know... i didn't even understand that last sentence so I'll be fucked if you's do. Though I do believe the people on here be you a fan of mine or not I do hold you in high enough esteem to hope you wouldn't stoop to the sad and pethetic lows in order to have a pop as about what your about to read. Anyway against my better nature I did think I should inform you of yesterdays events...

Someone rang me on a private number claiming they was from The Venue in Colne and due to my band not fitting the bill and above all else bands not going down as well as they may have liked at The Venue, I was the first port of call for the cull... i think they just expected me to go 'oh, ok then, bye' to the news but as you may or may not know I am quite an outspoken snappy little fucker when I want to be and didn't take the news too lighlty... The call ended with me not believing the caller, giving them a mouth full and putting the phone down. In the time it took me to locate The Venue's number this idiot has managed to dial me back in his pocket I couldn't really understand the conversation so couldn't really suss out what they was saying though I do think I heared my name muttered once or twice...

Anyway on speaking to The Venue I was informed that the statements made by the fucking idiot caller was totally untrue and it was suggested that they have been subject to someone either having a pop at the venue as they have had people have a go via here, social networking sites and in relation to bands getting gigs that in peoples eyes should or shouldn't be playing or a personal attack at me. The politics of the venue and the reasons they've had the bad press is nothing to do me me and frankly I don't care. All I know is I enjoy the place and the gigs been a belter everytime I've done it...

I'm not really arsed about direct attacks at me as I am big enough and daft enough to take them and more... Though if it is an attack at the Venue and any of you lot are booked there I do see it being a right bastards trick and would hate for anyone be you a mate or not to have a gig pulled by some idiot...

I have been informed that all is cool for everyone booked in so no need to go calling up to check your bookings, just one of them things I suppose... But whats the fucking need in it???

i won't be responding to any of the post that may go on this blog I just thought I'd give you a heads up into what depths some cocks will go to and just kinda say... beware the phantom caller.

Dear Dean and Trio

What a great deal of time this person must have on their hands to go about wasting yours!

Don't let the buggers grind you down is a phrase used by my Dad - I think that fits right here, oh and also up the ass of The Phantom Caller....cue spooky theme with lashings and lashings of diminished chords played on the neck pickup of a Jap Strat through a tremelo pedal with the amplifiers Spring reverb effect turned up three quarters....

Good Luck

I got cancelled from the Old Hall, Heysham at short notice then, on the night I should have played, got a call from the landlord asking where I was, I told him he'd cancelled me earlier that week and after a short pause for thought he said "that was the day i sacked the chef". It's worth checking cancellations unless you know for sure who you're talking to.

So...to sum up.

Low life rings you trying to get a no show for the venue (presumably to get a chance of a gig perhaps?)

You do the right thing and ring said venue yourself and find out its a bluffer.

Well done, but why on earth wouldn't anyone do exactly the same thing?

Low lifes exist all over this business it appears. :-(

Best wishes

John

This is why we do everthing on email bookings dates and prices , dates changes , next booking and festivals so we dont have this problem this happen to me 3 years ago someone we asked to leave cancelled a dj and double booked another they where both regular dj's and local so it was easy for him to do this.
