Cheating Hearts Bassist in secret claim to fame shocker

.....out yourselves......who are the "names" that you've played with?

So it turns out I know not one but two of the musicians who recorded with Denny Laine on his "Wings under the sound of....." Album.

I already knew I knew BigMart Shorrock (my drum teacher) had been Denny's drummer for a time (but I had to drag the info out of him) and then the other day it "casually" transpired that our very own The Cheating Hearts bassist Shug "may" have been the bassist....he very humbly couldn't really remember.

Well, even if I'm the only person to be excited about it I'm damn well gonna be.....

So who else here is hiding their lights under their bushes (or whatever the hell the saying is). Who have you played or recorded WITH (supports/appearing on the same bill don't count!) that we might/ought to/do know?

Watch all the name dropping now!! Fair play to Shug - nice, unassuming, honest bloke as well.

Life After Death recently jammed with Vinny Burns from Dare, Asia etc at Royton Band Club - jammy bastards.

And I'm currently trying to get a band together with ex-Dare drummist Jimmy Ross. Does that count?

Told Mick Hucknall he was a wanker and recorded with Lisa Stansfield. Does that count?

In a previous band our sound engineer was Colin McKay - he was in the 80s Liverpool band Here's Johnny and he also programmed Chris de Burgh's drum machines. Our drummer at the time was also in Half Man Half Biscuit.
We recorded a few tracks somewhere in Liverpool and the studio technician was Kevin Carson who used to be in Brewkside.
Doesn't look nearly so impressive now it's written down :(

Back in 1979 two lads a year above me in St Kevins in Kirkby told me they were forming a band and asked me if I wanted to play guitar in it. I went to the house of one of them (Eddie) and after a jam session I said nah as I was only into Genesis at the time and they sounded nothing like them.

Bit of a mistake actually as it was these guys:

Superb song imho.

Bumped into Eddie and Dayo (as I knew them) at Crash Studiond in Liverpool some years later. They remembered me and we had a good laugh about it. Nice blokes.

Best wishes

John

How about names I currently work with..., one of my best claim to fames is that a band I was in in the 80's was managed by the first bloke to have a sex change and was subject to a documentary on BBC called from George to Julia and wrote a book by the same name... big flapping hands a dead give away!
Neil
btw my wife is called Julia but it's a different one!!

In the early 90s my band was supported by The Verve and Oasis and a couple of years later returned the favour in a new band- I've played with gem Archer (Oasis) - supoorted the Stereophonics - Libertines- Fratellis- Las- Cast- Bez's and Boneheads band- cant remember what they were called- and a few other names a few years ago-

Been punched by Mick Hucknalls girly bodyguard then launched out the hacienda by bigger doormen :-)
Will Young called me an obnoxious drunken yob in a studio in manchester ( all true I am and was very drunk)
been in a round with Johnny Vegas- still got stomach pains and cant face vodka
and a couple of weeks ago Jeremy Kyle carried my guitar to my van after a gig

She says . "no"
I say in that case he/she/it's NOT famous!!

ipso facto "steve evetts" is not famous!
