All the best to Russ, a truly top bloke

Such a shame but the Hop Pocket closes it's doors to live music on the 14th of November. Russ has informed me today that his notice period has been drastically cut to 2 friggin weeks instead of 3 months. The Black Rose gig will be the last one so lets give him a good send off.

I hope you dont mean the hop pocket in chorley because that place is awesome and it seems to be doing really well. Is someone taking over and continuing? Its always booming on a thursday! If they stop the saturday nights then I at least hope they will carry on with BJs blues club.

Yep, Russ rang me this morning to cancel our gig.

Lovely guy and The 45's wish him 200% luck in what he does for the future,

Rick,

BJs Blues Club was stopping at the end of the year because of the move so I would imagine that it will cease to exist when Russ leaves. When I spoke to Lucas (organiser) a few weeks ago he seemed disappointed to be leaving the Hop Pocket but was optimistic about finding another venue.

Gutted for Russ and his family, the venue has always been a great place to play and I know the Blues Club was always a very busy night. Best of luck for the future with what ever you decide to do next and see you on the 12th.

@ TCS
Gary, I may have a cunning plan for the Blues Club, (unless Lucas has any ideas?). Will make some calls over the week-end.

I think the BJ's Blues club WILL relocate, its not the 1st time in the clubs history it has had to move its site. The net work IE Lucas supported his good lady wife, who runs evening, MC's the night, books the bands and sorts out all the printing and promotion Im sure will want to keep the BJ's ball rolling
. He's is a upbeat lovely guy who is passionate about what he does. He is also an excellent DJ with his own 3 hour rock programme on digital radio. "The Rock Of Ages Radio show " from the UK to the USA every Tuesday & Sunday 7pm -10pm via
www.redeyeradionetwork.com
Lucas is a really nice bloke , he does all this for the love of music he is a local hero to music here in the NW.
I think he would be genuinely embarrassed if he actually read this, but whilst the club at this moment in time may be without its home, hopeful only temporarily, lets give a little appreciation to the guy who has made it such an important night for so many people over the years.
There are only a few weeks left ,by all accounts for the current home of the BJ Blues club, the crazy thing is this is a very well attended regular evening, its standing room only almost every week! with people traveling from all over the NW, my information is that not many people local to Chorley actually attend?
If you want to be there for the last few weeks be there early, bands come on 9.25pm and the seats /tables are usually taken by 9pm! over the next few weeks the bands kick off with the excellent
The Adrian Guatrey Band this Thursday 3rd November (NW band similar feel/show to the excellent Russ Tippens Electric Band! )
Fuchi 4 next Thursday 10th November

If the venue is still carrying on till the end of month, people with more current information think it will close by the 14th if it lasts till the end of the month then there the next act's well worth checking out

The after Hours blues Band Thursday 17th November ( excellent show!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Crossfire Thursday 24th November

it would be great if NWbands members could try and attend and give some added support to all the people who will be deciding the future of this well established, friendly and superbly run evening for future years to come.

Ah, bollocks! We just played BJ's a couple of weeks ago, after 2 years of on and off hustling, and it was one of the best gigs we've had all year - great sounding room, nice set-up and, best of all, a proper audience i.e. dancing, clapping, large in number and with a real love for live music.

Best of luck to Lucas in his quest for a new venue - I don't imagine it'll be too hard a sale to any venue given its success and Lucas' proven track record.

Fingers crossed

Er...sorry to rant but let's have fingers crossed that RUSS can find a place for him and his family to live at such short notice. The word 'PRIORITIES' springs to mind.
