Giant

Anyone remember a band (or duo) using the name Giant based around Oldham in the late 80s?

Unpacking my music stuff after moving house I have found a cassette with a lot of what sound like studio recorded demos of original songs. I think it comprised a guitarist and singer ( I think I recall the singer was a male nurse) because I got it after I answered an ad for a keyboard player and did 2 rehearsals with them, each as I recall with a different bass player (or maybe not...age catching up) and they rehearsed in a mill in Oldham.

I was obviously not suitable because I turned up for a 3rd rehearsal and no-one else turned up! Coming from Sale I was a bit miffed that they didn't save me the journey to Oldham and with no mobile phone then I couldn't phone until I got back home. I wouldn't have minded being told I was not for them but to just disappear off the face of the earth, so to speak, I thought was a bit naughty.

However, I never heard any more from them and just wondered whether they ever got off the ground. The songs were a bit samey; sounded like a drum machine on the recordings but some were ok although they didn't seem to go anywhere after an interesting start!

It would be interesting to hear from either of them if they, or anyone who knows/knew them, have any information.
