think it's fair to say I've made it clear on NWB that he was my guitar hero. Superb songwriter but for me, being a superbly listenable lead guitarist set him apart. His solos were really crafted and almost songs in themselves (ok - sounds like I'm tossing off now!!!) but I was never one for million notes a second shredders. Randy could do that but there was so much more. Time for a bit of Revelation Mother Earth I think!

I used to love playing "Dee" in my banjoist days. Beautiful piece.

Sadly missed..
I am very proud (and honoured) to have seen him with Ozzy at The Heavy Metal Holocaust at Port Vale FC, Stoke in 1981. Ive never heard anyone play like Randy, and I don't think I ever will again.
