to be honest i actually think its worse in there now. although i know the lady in charge and shes ploughed a lot of effort into it. but its all cheap wooden laminate floors and bright lights. could be like playing in somebodies dining room

fuck me, a venue opens up and you're slagging it off. Beggars belief

Not slagging it off as a venue really, just that its a rather grotty and unpleasant environment to go to for a night out when you've been working all week.
The place has been in such a state for such a long time it would take somebody with mega bucks to do it justice. Unfortunately they've chosen to change the features that didn't need altering, like the old bar and left the bits that did need major tidying, i.e. the toilets, alone.

ok...a venue that is actively putting bands on instead of dropping them needs supporting NOT being called a dump. This has a detromental effect on getting punters through the door, why you decide to do this is a mystery to me.

always makes me laugh does this. why the fuck do you think that two comments posted on a website will greatly effect whether or not the people of colne go into a pub or not?
the world doesnt revolve around NWB ya know. theres me, lord standing and tubthumper in colne. i dare say we're probly the only people that live in colne who come on here!
colne used to be a great gigging town. it isnt any more im afraid. whether the new owners of the derbys eventually go back to regularly staging gigs or not is up to them but at the mo the last i heard it was part time and plans were for a more laid back type of band. obviously this may have changed seen as how theyve booked anthem.

LS is right, you cant polish a turd. she had a mountain of a task to get it up and running again, trust me i KNOW what she had to deal with. at the end of the day shes giving it a go and i take my hat off to her and i mean that sincerely but at the end of the day they/she/the brewery have chosen to do to the place is not to my tastes. i dont feel as though i should have to defend that but hey ho.

ive been in there numerous times since it reopened and every time the old stage area has been full of tables and chairs so i assumed that gigs were dead there.

ive been in there, ive drunk in there, ive put money over the bar please dont insinuate without proper knowledge that im not "supporting the venue"

thanks

fair enough. I ask people this..... if a venue opens up again and the first 2 comments slag the venue off, would it put you off? It would with me

well surely that speaks more about you than anything else?

ive had great gigs at supposed shit holes and vice versa (it goes without saying that these are in the minority of course) what im trying to say is that you should only really speak from first hand experience.

we go out to enjoy our selves and the entertainment, some of the comments refer to the state of the pub and how rough it has been. it dosent paint a pretty picture does it to a new commer ?

PUBLIC DISCLAIMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

comments made above by myself were based purely on my own findings. i am well known round these parts for being an overly critical, pesimistic (and i beleive i was described by mrs lynsdey wild) "miserable c**t" haha

if you are going to form your own opinions around my own personal findings then maybe you should think twice about using teh internetz as your main source of rersearch as sometimes people tell porkies or exagerrate things somewhat for dramatic effect.

i would strognly advise that people leave the safety of their computer stool and try to forge their own opinions based on cold hard facts that they have witnessed first hand.

What is the point of an open forum if you can't speak the truth?
