How about a 'Bands Available' tab on the menu above?

Venues can look at that & the rest of us don't feel like deja vu every half hour.

Come on guys be realistc...are venues really seeing your blogs asking for gigs?

We've all got available dates to fill in our diaries and I understand some of you can't get out in the car to visit venues in person but surely the FACT you are getting NO replies to your blogs means that particular method just ain't working.

Also, sorry for the rant but it annoys me when I see some of these blogs where the posters can't even be arsed including any info about their band....just simply 'gis a gig'. We all wish it was that simple! Type of band / covered artists might be a good start.

Should you feel the need to continue posting these blogs how about giving the venues a bit more info eh...how about this for a template:

Band name:
No. of band members:
Type of Band: covers / tribute / originals
Examples of bands covered (if covers):
Own PA / Lights: yes / no
Gigs wanted: within ..... miles of .............
Fee: (please call us on ............... or send a PM)

Just trying to help.

I personally haven't tried to get a gig through this site yet but it seems from the number of people posting about wanting gigs, venues really don't seem to check the site unless they really need to. Most venues seem to book bands in person when the band visit the venue etc.

I maybe wrong in my assumption of course but personally I would check the venues out in person and give them a CD etc.

We have just done a CD and once the Jewel Case Inserts etc are complete, we will visit the venues and give them a pack.

i cannot concur with this blog enough. personally i would ban "band available" blogs if i could. somesort of calender on the bands individual homepages would be better.

there is a gig list on all band pages. If venues want, they can use that.

Saying that, if a band/artist suddenly gets dropped at short notice, which does happen, I can see their sense in posting a late availability - venues do the same.

Got to agree RE the "book us we're great blogs", which some bands do more than once a week!!! Get of your arses!!!

I create a gig on our profile page which says 'Available' under venue and 'Anywhere' under location. This shows up in the gig guide too.

I can see why people post 'giz a gig' blogs, you've gotta try all available ways. However, I've found that going out to watch NWB bands has let me visit pubs, meet publicans and other musicians (if you'll permit me to include myself loosely in that category) and led to many more gig bookings than posting about generic availability on here. There was also more beer involved :)

or just an availability guide. exactly same as the gig guide but for availability

for what its worth, the usage of this site has changed so much over the years it could do with a big overhaul anyways. id like to see the general shit chat seperated completely somehow but it aint gonna happen.
im not certain but im pretty sure mr nwb gave up coming on here a long time ago when we went through the dark days =)

personally i dont use this site much these days. that may be down to the fact that im (still) trying to give up gigging so much but also because most of the long term (worthwhile) contributors are long gone and anything of any use gets lost in the blogs discussed above.

sorry to go massively off topic

a way of listing 'UNAVAILABLE' would be good to for when band members have hols, weddings to attend, other work commitments etc ;-) so if a venue looked at your profile page they could see at a glance available and unavailable dates !!!

or is it acceptable to put unavailable against a date on yer gig listing ???

but then again the gig guide would be blocked up with 'availables' n 'unavailables'

ffs, what do I know anyhow ???
