Marshall 50th Anniversary amp

Bit of a disappointment, or is it me?

Been obvious they were going to do 'something' for 50th Anniversary this year, and it's this:

www.andertons.co.uk/namm/Marshall-50th-Anniversary-An-Amp-For-Every-Decade

A set of 5 amps (either head or combo) that seem to be 1 watt mini versions of the originals. They're staggered release - I can only imagine so you are meant to buy all 5 - yeah, right!!

1st one out now is a 1 watt 'tribute' JTM 45 and costs £479 as a head!!! Have I missed something, or should I be really fired up about these and be saving up for one (or all 5) right now?

Anyone got one/tried one?

Got to admit .... I agree with Bobo's comment here !

What exactly is it that adds to the cost of a valve amp ??, the prices have rocketed over the last few years and they cannot take that much to assemble and make !! Someone, namely the Amp manufacturers, are taking us musicians to the cleaners here !!

Rant over !! :)

apart from the STOOOOPID high price and the blatant marketing strategy of releasing em seperately throughout the year i think the heads are cool as fuck. the combos look a bit shite tho

the VHT 6 looks great for the diy modder (various amp conversion kits)! Alnicomagnet does some mod kits for it on ebay (I did one a GA5 head, really good instructions - as long as you can read and solder, you're laughing!)

@ hard to handle - Not tried one but hear they're good - and £169! Love little lower wattage valve amps generally.

I think so far we're more or less all on the same page. Looks 'cool' or at least 'cute' and could be fun, but its PCB not tagboard, so why SUUUUCCHH a high price? I'm sure someone will buy the set of all 5 and be pleased - but it won't be me!

What's the betting that the £479 1st in set is cheapest, and they get dearer for the other models due?...
