...it seems like you won't be getting rid of me this easily.

Actually, truth be told I haven't been ill at all. I've been working with Amazonian tribes in the rain forest and had discovered cures for every life threatening disease known to man. Unfortunately this led to me being kidnapped by a cartel of pharmaceutical companies on my way home and the subsequent erasing of all memories (except for the one of the time I drummed "Song 2" twice as fast as it should have been as they obviously had a sick sense of humour as well as a fervent desire to protect their share prices).

Those of you who have joined me in the insomniac early hours on here and on Facebook may be pleased (or jealous) to learn that I've had more sleep in the last 10 days than I had in the whole of last year.

I'm still far from fighting fit, firing on less than one cylinder still. However, all this means is that it will take me longer to get my breath back in between launching verbal assaults on you all.

In the meantime I'm going to spend some of my convalescence compiling statistical date as to how many punk bands have the same old classic punk tunes in their sets. Ever Fallen In Love, I Fought the Law, London's Burning, Sheena Is A Punk Rocker, Anarchy In The UK, Pretty Vacant, God Save The Queen, Too Drunk To Fuck, Holiday In Cambodia, What Do I Get, Harmony In My Head, White Riot, Tommy Gun, New Rose, Smash It Up, Neat Neat Neat, Eton Rifles (I thought the Jam were Mods but then I have a temperature of 101 and a hole in my lung), Blitzkrieg Bop, Tomorrow's Girls, EMI, Bodies, Holidays In The Sun, Borstal Breakout, If The Kids Are United, Tin Soldiers, At The Edge, Alternative Ulster, Suspect Device, Wasted Life, Babylon's Burning, Staring At the Rude Boys….oh I could go on but I have an appointment with a massive green phlegm ball forming in my alveoli.

Perhaps the Punk bands sing them all slightly differently…maybe with a few diminished chords, or an inversion or two, or slightly more or less shouty…..there must be some reason why they all think the audience wants to hear the same songs……

Thanks again to all who posted and messaged and to Almenursie for his reassurances and comforting enquiries after my snot status. I'm back off to bed where, on past evidence, I shall probably be for the next 18 hours. It's very taxing being a keyboard militant.

;)
