Adrian Gaultrey Band, Stocks Hotel, Walkden, 27 January, 2012.

Hi All,

Haven't been to to Stocks in Walkden for years but as I was passing last night and knew ther was a band on thought I'd pop in and see the gig. Glad I did. They kicked off just as I got in, not long after nine, a bit earlier than usual but I'd have been disappointed had I missed any of their set. They were great.

It never ceases to amaze me how three piece bands playing in pubs with no entrance fee can knock out what they do compared with paying out a shed load out to go to a big band at a stadium. I'm not Victor Meldrew but there are some good bands out there well worth the effort to go and see; Rock Doctors, Mother's Ruin, Freestealer, One in Ten, I could go on, sorry for those I haven't mentioned, you know who you are, I will mention you in the future.

Adrian looks like a young Ted, he plays and sings all the covers very well, his 'older half brother' on bass seems to be enjoying the whole event as does their drummer. It's nice to see see a band having a good time as well as playing very well and giving us a good time too.

If you like Zeppelin, Lizzy, Whitesnake, Free, Bad Company etc. go and see this band you will be really happy you did, the will not let you down. This is their website address for their gigs www.adriangaultreyband.co.uk

I've nerver seen them before, didn't know who was on at the Stocks, just called in ont the off chance so this is a genuine review by a music fan.

Be good.

Love,

SLE.

I have to agree , these are a very good band. Me and Tracy have seen them a few times now, The Olde Black bull in Preston and BJ's Blues club in Chorley are regular Gigs for them. I saw them for the first time when I caught their 2nd spot at The Ship in Preston. I have even had the pleasure of getting up to sing with them once! There are several bands I make the effort to see as often as I can and this band is one of them. Excellent set of musicians playing some tasty numbers and friendly lads to boot!

I concur, they are friendly too, making the effort to chat with the audience, although some in the Stocks were too 'relaxed' to really notice! I'll get out to see them again. SLE.
