Under rehearsed rabble in play for 20 groats and a pickled egg SHOKKA!

Although there was some, not inconsiderable skill in cutting the egg into 5 equal portions.

This is actually a review, not a self review because i now know that that seems to make some people vomit bone marrow up through their eyeballs. Its more of a venue review and crowd...

THE POLISHED KNOB at Todmorden....

Its away out in the sticks, it was a very cold night, we were a new name on their roster, it is borderline yorkshire and we are very much lancashire.......It was never gonna be a winner of a gig was it....we anticipated the grand total of 10 people uttering such phrases as "you come up here with yer fancy talk and fancy ways" and "folk from round here wanna hear sex is on fire and teenage kicks not that high falluting keyboard driven pap you guys are peddling"..

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrongitty wrong....

A truly special little venue this one.....

STAGE: They have a full setup for the band to use (if you so desire) Full range PA (High, mids and bass bins), 2 guitar stacks (marshall valvestates - dunno whether they are any good or not), bass stack (Ashdown MAG i think - not my cup o char but it was there), drum kit (which gareth said was useable and he did), all mics already set up (we removed the mics and used our SM58s but used their leads), monitors galore all over the show, and power points coming out of your ears.

We used our own guitar and bass rigs (but that could be down to fear of the unknown/snobbishness).... Powered desk hung on the wall with all leads in place (not marked up which was a bit of a hassle - but it aint rocket science to figure out).....

BAR STAFF/OWNER: Nice and friendly and really let us get on with it, might have been better if someone had given us an overview of the PA arrangement but like i said before it aint the hardest thing to figure out..

CLIENTELLE: hmmmmmmm :o), to start with I really really wish i had known that Todmorden was such a hotbed of cuties when i was a younger man ............... ........ .......... ......... ...............................................................................

..... sorry had to hide the page there, the missus came in and was noseying around :o) ...... anyhow it was babe central!! and Milf central and all the other cliches.... The pub punters are difficult to pigeonhole ... there is a passing through trade (of scantily clads -YESS get in!!) which accounts for 25% of the crowd and the 75% rest are there for the night.... and boy do they get into it... We expect set 1 to be a warmup (maybe you guys eperience the same?), we dont expect song #4, set #1 to kickstart the dancing ... thats normally middle of the second set fare....... and they didnt let up..... the whole thing kickstarted by a group of (7 or 8) women and the hardcore joining in......... ...... It was a blast!

So give em a call guys SUPERB VENUE!!! Cannot recommend it enough!!!

Result! Looked in there at the festival a year back and wondered what it would be like on a gig night.

Good review!
