Moving to Liverpool! Help!

Hiya!

First Blog, thought I'd explain a bit about my self and my plans. Well I'm acoustic covers singer, doing stuff from 60's to present day. There's a bit more about my act in my biography, but in summary: I've been doing this nearly 5 years, I've played everywhere from Glasgow to Bournemouth and everywhere in between. I've played every place from Nursing Homes to Universities. And I've played with acts such as James Bourne (Ex Busted), Charlie Simpson, Terry Hall (The Specials), Shaun Ryder, Goldie Lookin' Chain and many more.

In 2 months time I'm moving to Liverpool and I'm looking for covers gigs up there. So far, I've been to liverpool and give out my press pack and I've spent hours and hours scouting the internet. I've found alot of places but there may be a few hidden gems somewhere. Or maybe, you own a place and you're reading this.

Here's a link to me doing some covers. Any help at all would be appreciated!

Hi Danny.

In my experience Liverpool is a tough place to get gigs from as there appears to be a clique that divides all the gigs up between them :-(

If you have transport then I would advise you broaden your horizons futher afield and look at gigs in Cheshire and places like Bolton, Blackpool etc.

There are a few chaps here who play solo acoustis gigs so perhaps they can suggest venues?

Otherwise try this link.

Good luck with the gigs matey.

I live in Liverpool, and to be blunt, it's an oversaturated clusterfuck.

I do local gigs around Waterloo (there's about six paying music venues on South Road, it's nuts), but I avoid town completely. It's mostly unpaid unsigned 'showcase' nights in places like the Cavern, Zanzibar etc. the Cavern Pub and the front bar of the club is a possibility.

Your best bet will be seeking out the lively pubs in the suburbs, really. Places like the Black Bull in Aintree are rougher than a badger's behind, but you can have some fun - and they'll actually pay a decent wage, unlike the city centre. You could also try the Harbour Bar, Another Place and The Old Bank in Waterloo, they'd definitely give you a gig.
