Currently using H&K Switchblade but training myself around my Marshall JCM800 to phase it into D.O.A for the authentic 80s sound \m/\m/

I use a Marshall MG-50dfx at the minute. It does the job alright but I'd love to spend more money on something with a bit more balls. Trouble is I've spent too much money this last year on effects pedals and a PA system :s

Mesa F50. brilliant Clean, great rock sound.... doesn't go into metal territory, though neither do I :)

the only down side is that it is too fookin loud.

My recent purchase (unused live as yet) is a 2x12 combo Bugera 6262 (poor mans peavey 5150).
I'm in the middle of making a birch ply head, into which i'm transferring the guts as it's too fricking heavy!

I mostly used a Fender Twin, the 94 version rather than the 65 Twin Reverb, great amp, it belonged to my dad. It got replaced (briefly) with a Boogie F50, great amp but not for me for what I play. My dad's pinched the Twin for good now though! So i've just bought a Dr Z EZG 50 head and 2x10 cabinet. Not gigged yet, sounding good so far.

I have an ENGL powerball which I've sworn by for years, run it through an ENGL standard 4x12 (it has vintage 30's and weighs something ridiculous like 64 kilo's, but nothing sounds good unless you play it through that cab! Haha!!!) However I now only use that for beyond recognition. I recently got myself a jet city JCA100 (a poor mans soldano SLO) and its absolutely spot on for black rose (through the ENGL cab of course) I can't fault it one bit!

P.S. no apologies if anyone is bored by this...just don't bloody read it if you are!!! :-)

Just bought a Vox VT120+ solid state and very very versatile modelling amp- excellent for covers band fills all gaps!

If I could choose any amp though would be the tweed Fender Bassman- LOVE IT!

Got a couple of cracking little amps- a Harley Benton GA-5 which is a repackaged valve junior with a tone control and a Ross 1970s thing in nearly new condition- Apparently Rory Gallagher used to use the same model for recording and I know Noel Gallagher has used the same ...

@Andy Mack - I got a GA5 last year of fleabay (head not combo). Modified it so it has a "british" tone stack, stand by switch and someone had done the volume nod on it (play it cranked at low level, if you get my drift!) - superb little valve number!

...and another nice touch (or really sad perhaps!) is take the guts out (4 screws on the top) and turn them around and the nice grill on the back becomes the front so you can see the valve glow!!

I have a Marshall avt150 for gigging a Marshall mg100hdfx for band practice and a behringer 15w combo for home use and also a Marshall class 5

@grooverman i know what you mean about Marshall being unrealiable i've had my share of problems with them had a look on the net and a lot of people are in the same boat you would have thought with all the years of experience they could make an amp that doesn't come straight out the factory with problems. I love Marshall amps but thinking of looking into other more realiable brands.

I have a 1985 Vox AC30 TB that i have owned for the last 20yrs, it is now being used fulltime by the bands rhythm guitarist as I play bass at present through an Ashdown 550 Touring 2x10 combo.

I also have a late 70's Carlsbro Scorpion 2x12 combo, again, owned that for over 20yrs and has never let us down, was used all the time for about 10yrs then put out for retirement, but occasionally it comes out for an airing. Had it servced for the first time last year and was given a clean bill of health.

Bought a Peavey Renown 1x12 160w combo a couple of yrs ago off eBay, again, a great amp with masses of power. Fitted with a standard scorpion speaker, basically a Special but with digital reverbs instead.

And I also have a 1984 Tokai TA-35 tweed amp, based on the Fender champ. Great little amp with a dedicated line-out so could be used in all matter of circumstances.

I've not long got a Hughes and kettener tubemeister 18 head and matching 1x12 cab. Sounds awesome for such a small amp!!! And with the red box output on the back it can go straight into the pa.

Carlsbro Scorpion, great amps with reverb and Tremolo, takes pedals well and has a classic look. I cant remember if they are 30 or 60 watt? They can be loud if I remember well? Someone on a forum I go on found a mint one for buttons recently. A guitarist in a band I was in used one for a short while in the late 70s, it was lent to him by a music shop will his new HH amp was getting delivered. I actually thought the Carlsbro which was a used amp, actually sounded better with a better head room.

Small gigs - Marshall 30th Anniversary combo + ext cab
Anything else:
- Marshall AFD100 + Marshall AVT 150H - running as a dual rig, the AVT is for cleans.
- Peavey 5150 MKII
- Marshall AR50 for acoustic stuff.

@Tony-Vocalist,

The Carlsbro is 40w and perfectly matched to the speakers, you can run it flat out without fear of blowing the amp or speakers. Mine is a little roadworn but works perfectly, both tremolo and reverb work. Best £30 I ever spent, and that was 20yrs + ago.

Jez the GA 5 is a great little amp I love it-

Forgot I also have a Marshall AS100d for the smaller acoustic gigs - its great amp and acoustic soloist should try one

I still use an 'original' (mid 1990s) Fender Blues DeVille Tweed amp, the one with 2 x 12 inch speakers that they don't make anymore. I love it and if anything happened to it, I'd try my best to find another one!

My Peavey 5150 2x12 is my favourite amp...the rhythm channel is the best sound on this amp, loud as fook, heavy as fook too !!!
Laney gh50l head (sometimes) basically a Marshall JCM 800 2203 without the reliabilty issues.

I also have a Mesa single rectifier head and Mesa 4x12 that is for sale, as it doesn't get used nearly enough, so i can't justify keeping it.
