NWB - Fortnightly Meetings

Who fancies it? any interest?

I've pondering over the idea of having a NWB meeting/showcase night. Ideally on a Monday or Tuesday when bands arent gigging and venue owners have a quiet moment. ideally, it would be a venue with an inhouse PA, also just off a junction on the M61/M65, thats in easy reach for most peeps.

We could swig a few beers, and hopefully have a couple of acoustic ditties from fellow NWBers

Who'd be honestly up for it i.e. in actually turning up!? and would it be of any use to anyone?

The Pheasant Pluckers has it all!!! PA, Keyboards, & even drums if you need them!!! We are literally 1 mile from charnock richard services on the m6 so we even have our own junction!!! lol!!!

"PA, Keyboards, & even drums" - I'm liking it! + the nearby junction.

Would be handy for bands in leyland, chorley, bolton, preston, wigan e.t.c - good catchment area.

yes great idea, count sabre in, and look at that, a generous offer from steve at the pluckers allready, might be an idea two use two venues so the catchment of nwb members changes, alternating fortnightly from the two venues, the pluckers is one mile from me so yabba dabba doo.

Does it have to be full bands, or could we just turn up and jam along - could lead to some interesting collaberations (I'll get me stix!)

Great idea, i've seen a few bands off this site now Paul and there isn't enough time to have a proper chat with band members setting up or packing up, count us in, Rick.

Yep deffo up for it. We could have an NWB page with a collaborations section!

You could recruit other NWBers to play the tunes your band won't let you.

Anyone up for a bit of TOTO Africa!

Yeah, Id be interested in getting a few trades down to the NWB night. People involved in other aspects of music e.g. logo design, t shirt printers, film makers, photographers, Music shops e.t.c - Could be a good place to network and score some new clients.

Put down Pure Biker FM for recording the night. Would be a great addition to the radio station. Can play it later in the week so you all get to hear it.

Full details to be announced very shortly. I'll need sort out how many people intend to play, and who just wants to come down for a general chin wag. Im hoping to keep it mainly acoustic just so we have a swift turnover of acts.

# Posted by Duke Bocks - 16/05/2009, 00:07 (GMT)

did someone say acoustic?

Avatar

# Posted by mr.nwb - 16/05/2009, 00:11 (GMT)

Not strictly coming acoustic... but keeping it minimal, so theres a quick change over of acts. If youre bring stuff that'll take 20mins to set up, then think again.

Avatar

# Posted by W - 16/05/2009, 09:33 (GMT)

yeah you should limit it to x minutes and that includes set up time, so if you take an age to set up you loose out on playing your tunes.

The Cake House is part of Chorley Community Centre which has a large stage, inhouse PA, lighting, hall which holds 200. I'm happy for it to be used as a venue either mid week or on a Sunday afternoon. It has a decent pub next door and they'll do a BBQ if enough people turn up.
We're just off the M61 at junction 8, 10 mins from M65/M6 junction, 30 seconds walk from Chorley train and bus station. Free parking at side of building for cars and bikes!
