The first NWB showcase of 2009

NWB is proud to be hosting its first 2009 Showcase at the Pheasant Pluckers, Monday 8th June, from 7pm..

Pheasant Pluckers @ Hunters Lodge
Preston Road
Charnock Richard
Chorley
PR7 5LH

NWB would like to invite artists/bands/venues and people in the music trades to the event (knees up!). The intention of the night is to allow us fellow NWB members to have a central gathering place to exchange ideas, network, score gigs, and a general boozy rant over the NW music scene.

If you are an artist/band and would like to play at the showcase please PM/email me (mr.nwb) with your 1st choice and 2nd choice slot time by Thursday 21st May. A line up will be decided and the bands will be informed what slot they have been given. In line with previous success NWB showcase nights artists/bands are expected to play a stripped down/acoustic performance. This dosent mean "stictly come acoustic", but it means that you will only have a 25min slot, and this will include your setup time as well.

STRICT 25 MIN TIME SLOT - if you are late turning up, then tough, you miss your slot. We'll have acts coming from different regions of the NW, so its only fair that a strict time scheduled is adhered to.

7.30 - 7.40 : Mr.NWB and Woody (Opening the show!)
7.45 - 8.10 : David Smither | www.northwestbands.co.uk/davidsmither (kermit scarf wearer from ellesmere port)
8.15 - 8.40 : Hazardous Waist | www.myspace.com/hazardouswaist (Band)
8.45 - 9.10 : The Empire State | www.myspace.com/theempirestateuk (Originals Band)
9.15 - 9.40 : The Fabulous Eggs | www.thefabulouseggs.co.uk (solo)
9.45 - 10.10 : The Big Fish | www.thebigfishband.co.uk (Band)
10.15 - 10.40 : Bandfan - Mike Smith (Solo Acoustic)
10.45 - Close - NWB Jam!

The landlord of the venue has informed me that there will be a drumkit and keyboards available, As well as PA and a couple of mics and mic stands. It maybe advisable to bring a few spares of your own.

As well as bands, I'm hoping that a few trade people will pop down, i.e. music shops owners, banner/sign makers, logo makers, photographers, lighting engineers. If you are in a trade and are thinking of popping down please PM/Email mr.nwb.

In the meantime, why not leave a comment below if you are intending on popping down :-)

Cheers! and lets make it a good un!

Hi Paul

SAM our lead guitarist is away until friday so will be back then I thought places would have been snapped up to be honest Starnge!

also the accoustic aspect might be potentially off putting for rock bands who like to make a noise possibly?

will get back friday

"also the accoustic aspect might be potentially off putting for rock bands who like to make a noise possibly? "

Also, the fact that they wont be getting paid either!

Its not strictly acoustic, You can bring your amps, and their will be a drum kit available. Youre just restricted to a 25min slot.

The Pheasant Pluckers is located on the A49 running from preston to wigan. The easiest way to access it is come off at charonck richard services M6 and use the private hotel slip road. The barriers do not work!!! Once through turn left, then left again at the mini roundabout. We are less than a mile down the road on the left hand side. For anyone who is more local we are in between The Bowling Green or Buy A Bike & Park Hall Camellot!!! Hope that helps!!!

and if any accoustic artists are on and would like some gentle backing they will be on stage for that,

Hello Paul

Unfortubtley we have band members on holiday on the Monday 8th June so we wont be able to make it!which is very disappointing for us!

idea why dont you go for broke with a really big event an out side summer annual festival for NWB A bit like the haigh hall festival i think you might get a big response sponsership and advertising you could record it and film it (dvd sales)I have done this before. The idea has big risks and potential for big pay back!

sell tickets, bar food etc for the event I think it could go very well with NWB fan base if bands dont play many will attend

i would sugges having a covers and orgnals bands sections or mixture say 12 bands 6 of each how you selc them is another problem?

wil you be going to haigh hall on the 5th July ? have llok at the event and the number people who attend the festival

regards

Elias

Big festival sounds good, however it would take up a lot of time and resources and business risk. Im happy to lend the NWB brand to anyone wanting to do a full on festival.

I did a festival a few year back for Accrington, however, there was little help/support from local businesses and NWB folk. When it comes to the crunch, most people cant be ar$ed.

Click on the button under the "You" in YouTube (bottom right), to view videos in full screen. I've uploaded from my camera to the p.c using the Xvid (mpeg4) format, so there's a loss of definition when in full screen.. I had to make a compromise between definition, aspect ratio, and the uploading time to Youtube. The sound quality is very good though!.May have a fiddle around with the settings at a later date...enjoy!

HI Guys
Due to being let down I am looking for a band to play on a rock night for the 29 th August 2009. Its a Bikers night can be 100 - 200 bikers there depending on holiday times. You would be playing in a large barn with rock disco. Bikers camp over night it's a good night. But it is a Charity night at Animals in Distress Littleborough Nr Rochdale so If you could keep fees as low as possible. Now getting desperate. call Mel on 07714953838 if you can help me.
