Anyone know anything about lights?

Looking for some simple, reasonably cheap lights for the band - any ideas?

Looking for some simple, reasonably cheap lights for the band. Ideally something that you can just plug in and go, not too much messing about. Any advice on what works well for bands? Not so keen on the cheesey mobile DJ style set-ups.

Cheers

What's it like Alec, can you put it on the floor or does it need a pole? 4 colours?

I got a tip of this site a couple of months back - Kam parbar. It's 4 LED pars mounted on a T bar, complete with sound to light and a foot control that allows you to switch between solid colours, sound to light and blackout. Whole thing runs completely cool and comes in 2 bags, 1 the size of a guitar case and 1 even smaller and I got it off ebay brand new for £210 inc, delivery. we have never looked back!

Yeh, cool running leds aint bad (although I still don't think they're quite as bright yet as halogens) HOWEVER,...you can't beat red hot lights beaming down on you giving you the sweats...makes you look like you're working harder than you actually are LOL
And they're great in winter when you roll up at a freezing cold pub when they ain't put the heating on

We use the Acme iColor lighting rig, superb lighting for the whole band and can use on floor as well as stand mounted. They're really compact but still provide a good range definitely suitable for a band - we tried par cans but in most venues there just isn't the space.

We use NJD Quartets as well. Can recommend, but that i colour is an absolute steal.
Buy it before someone else does.

LED's use a lot less powere as well, so when you are running everything from the usual solitary socket from tother side o the room there is less overload on the lectrics..., bonus for the LL too not as much leccy is being used... Kam parbar is the sensible way to go methinks,,,
