An update to how blog urls are constructed

Hi folks

Just to let you know that the blog post urls are now formatted as

www.northwestbands.co.uk/.../north-west-bands-jollyboys-outing

NWB Site - > Blog - > Post -> Postid -> Profile Name - > Blog Title

It should mean for more SEO/Search engine friendly urls, so you'll get more chance of appearing higher up in google if someone searches for something contained in your blog.

Good eh!

Please remember to update any blog urls you may have posted on your myspace/facebook/websites

Well, before the NWB blog post urls were formatted like

www.northwestbands.co.uk/blog/2008/01/01/456.aspx

Which didnt really give much info on what the post was about.

Whereas the new urls are formatted like...

www.northwestbands.co.uk/.../north-west-bands-jollyboys-outing

Which obviously gives more info about what the link will take you to.

Understand now?

LOL. To make things clearer, google and other search engines like to send robots on websites on the internet. These are called bots or spiders. These spiders like to collect words off the webpages to send back to their search engine, so that when people type words into their search engine (lets use google as example), the relevant websites appear which contain those words.
Before Mr NWB's link change, the web address for our blogs ended with numbers, like in this case 2008/01/01/456
www.northwestbands.co.uk/blog/2008/01/01/456.aspx

however, mr nwb has changed it so that the web address contains the blog heading instead, so that these spiders can send these words back to google. Then when people are looking for robert redfords jollyboys outing, it will come up in google's listing, and also help promote NWB. It's also good because if someone sends you a link from NWB, you will know what its about because it says so

www.northwestbands.co.uk/.../north-west-bands-jollyboys-outing

Great, I'm glad you cleared that up for me 'cos I was heading for a sleepless night there. I didn't realise there were so many people looking for jolly boys that Mr NWB had to reorientate the whole site to it. Hey ho, now I know......

@ bat- "typing what one is thinking" could be a bit tricky, depending on one's mood?? as when i'm watching that womman line dance to iron butterfly in that vid-something strangely repellent and erotic at the same time about that!! -*gulp*!!!

You've done this, but I still don't know what the most covered song is by NWB'ers, and the ads don't click in a window!

I'm beginning to wonder where your priorities lie!! ;-)
