Anyone have an iPhone?

Just found a nice little recording app!

The iPhone is a ridiculous piece of kit, today i've just downloaded a nifty little recorder called Field Recorder (FiRe) which will record, then upload the recording instantly via ftp, or to a soundcloud account.

I did a quick one-take of the below and am pretty suprised by the quality of it, not the playing of course, that's obviously crap, but the little iPhone has a decent mic on it for what is just there essentially to shout at people down the other line.

Have a listen and see what you think, comments appreciated!

good shout Mr. Smither.

I have an iphone and agree, they are a great bit of kit. The last 3 gigs I've done with the dogs I've been using it to tune my bass with the "Guitar Tool Kit". That's worth £5.99 of anyones money.

Just checked out the field recorder and that would be really useful. I'm going to hand on and see what the v3.0 of the software offers, I believe they are including a recorder, but I don't think it will be a patch on this field recorder.

Good find. I'll be buying it I reckon.

I even went running today because I found an app that'll track the run on google maps!

Yeah I saw that Guitar Tool Kit had a lot of good reviews will probably splash out on that too.

I've also lost my capo and was thinking of strapping the phone to the neck instead of buying a new one. It does pretty much everything else!

I'll use that recorder thing at the showcase next week and see how it fares in a live environment, seems you can set the levels on it so could be ok.

The quality of that recording is very surprising for a phone. I wonder how it would cope with sounds other than acoustic ? Would it start distorting while recording a band's practice session. I'd be very impressed if it coped with that.

I don't care how many times I get a pop up telling safari doesn't recognise it, I'm adamant I'll have it by this time next week. The word CANT just makes me more determined ...

Don't laugh Paul it's soul destroying!

sounds great, surprising quality for a phone mic. I don't like apple, I stick to normal mp3 players, won't have an ipod, but I keep hearing good things about the iphone, might have to save up for one of them.

I'm with Smithers, its a cracking bit of kit, albeit an expensive one. Apple are just as evil as Microsoft, but its handy for me and works a treat.
