Second Half Of Wolfpack Set ALL Iron Maiden.... Opinions?

We do them well so this is what we are thinking

Hi guys
Anyone who has seen us will probably agree with us that the strongest songs we do are our Maiden covers. We're currrently working on another one and it is sounding so damn good that we got to talking about dedicating the entire second set to Maiden. A couple of our merry band, whilst agreeing we do the stuff well, have commented that we could alienate, or indeed lose, fans as a result.

What do you guys think? A first set of 50 minutes of mix and match classic rock and a second set of pure Irons.

Will it work? Fans would you attend and venues would you still have us on?

Cheers
Nidge

I don't think you'd lose fans Nidge, whatever you do you do really well. Just so long as you don't do any at all in the 1st set. I'd put money on it that the audience will be sceaming for more at the end of the 2nd set............Trust me!!!!!!!

Yeah Charlie there'd be NONE in the first set at all.
We need to make a decision on it because of the extra work involved and I have an album to record with Marseille so if we were to put in the work i wouldn't just want to do it for one gig then never do them again. I think at Cricketers, Whittles, The Pub Lancaster and any Bolton gigs it will go down well. not too sure what the punters @ Hindley Arms and Boulevard would think though?
Cheers

You know your audiences Nidge, just revert back to your normal set list if your unsure, or am I being a bit nieve here?

I suppose longer term Charlie, if it went down well, then we have the option of going into being a full on Maiden tribute as wll as being the Wolfpack you guys already know. Gigs are getting harder to get so you need to offer up something new to punters and venues alike. The old songs will always be there for the right occasions.

It's just an option Charlie, it allows us to play certain other venues that ONLY put tributes on and won' give covers bands gigs.

hi nigdge,we think you could pull it off like that but as stated by charlie/norma give it a try and if it seems not to be going well you got stuff in your arsenal that you could throw in and change if required to do so,the effort could well pay off as for turning into a tribute band ,thats a matter for all the band as we all know the gigs are not as many but the rewards can be greater,we have faith in what you do ,just go with what feels right ,we always do if its wrong thats are fault cheers,,helvelyn2

Think it would be a good thing to experiment with Nidge, the more material you know as a band the more you have to play around with at different gigs - it's all about adjusting your set to whats right for the venue and keeping your audience's attention on the band. Why not give it a try at some of your more regular venues, Whittles for eg, see how it goes and evaluate from there. And I definitely agree bands have to offer something new, something different which sets them apart from others BUT keeps the punters happy. Good luck anyway mate.

i think you should do that Nidge, as i think being true to a gut instinct or idea pays off 9/10 times

Mmm a toughie Nidge .... most punters come to watch us as we have a 'high voltage' of DC covers but we tried a full 2nd set of DC once and people were then wanting other stuff...well thats wot happened to us ..!!! .so maybe leave that idea to the trib bands imho !!

I think we are going to learn the songs and use at an option rather than a regular thing Ian.
