Online Collaborations

Anybody up for doing some online writing/recording?

Who know's we might be able to come up with a NWB anthem :)

If you want some stuff to start off with, check out my solo stuff on www.myspace.com/scottbeveridge and send me your tracks either in wav (via yousendit.com) or mp3 format.

I can play guitar and drums, although I still have to use drum samples as anytime i've tried to record the live kit it sounds sh!t.
If anyone knows of a good way to do it through a single line in to the pc then I'm all ears lol

Also, I'm sh!t at writing lyrics and singing (although I can do 5 part harmonies lol) so if you wanna have a go then cool.

Mr NWB, as a suggestion, is there any way we could maybe have a scratch page that we could upload/download the tracks?

As it will be orginal material then there should be no copyright issues, just bandwidth and disk space issues I guess.

Great idea! I've been looking for an original project for a bit but struggled to find musicians that are up for it! I sing, play guitar, and decent bass. And I have the same probs with drums lol. I write lyrics but need more practice so if you fancy a crack at collaboratin get in touch!

woohoo damn tootin.

Let's give it a go
My lyrics always end up sounding like a bad kids limerick lol

"Now it's time to rock
with ears like Dr Spock
and a boil on my Albert Dock"

See what I mean
LOL

like I said at the top of the page, if you want to write lyrics and sing them along to my songs on my space, then go ahead, but if you don't like the sound of them then we can try something else.

In reply to Without reason- NWB anthem- the last site version had one "Rocking The Northwest" Written Recorded and performed by The fabulous Eggs (one of the many line ups og THE EGGS)- you can listen to it and download it here!! http://www.thebizmo.com/fabeggs

Cool, but I didn't mean it the way it's maybe come across. I don't intentionally want to create an NWB anthem, I just want to create some music and who knows, we might come up with a really cool track that a lot of people in the NWB community have contributed to.

Speaking of online collaborations- have you seen those guys on you tube- there are loads- that collaborate in songs on you tube online and never meet from miles apart- madness

I would contribute if there was a way to do it- can do lyrics- play guitar- make up leads- make the brews

It couldn't be easier.
I know there are tons of home recording programs out there, but I can only refer to Cakewalk as that's the one I use.

For Example

You would download the mp3 of track we were working on. You would import that into your music program as track 1.
Then you would record your bit on track 2.
Delete track 1 and send me just your track.
I would then bugger about with it (compression, reverb, delay etc) and put it into the final mix.

It really is that easy.
My mates band http://www.myspace.com/edenscurse signed a major record deal with AFM records and are working on their second album and they recorded both albums using this process.

Singer from the states
My mate from Glasgow
Guitarist from Germany
Drummer (ex Paul D-ianno's band) : London
Keyboard : Sweden

They've never played a single note together as a band.
So it can be done, and as you say, more and more people are doing it.

Let's give it a go :)

Ok here goes
Song title : nwb jam1.mp3
http://download.yousendit.com/E2E482646E29CC10
(if the link expires pm me or email me and I'll email it to you)

I have come up with a basic intro ( E down to C, with G, D, and C at the very end of it.

Ok, so I'm looking for a guitar solo over the intro.
A bass line for the intro. Will need a bass line for the first verse but we need to come up with it first lol
I haven't written anything guitar wise for the first verse so go for it.
Once I hear your ideas for the first verse, I'll be able to come up with a drum line for the bridge.

OK guys
Do your stuff and lets see what you can come up with.

Or, if you think the riff sucks then let me know and we'll start again :)
I won't be offended, well, maybe a wee bit *grin*

cheers

NWB anthem sounds great.. Yeah I can accomodate an MP3 upload facility no problemo.

Did something a year or two back with an NWB CHRISTMAS song. We got 3/4 entries through.
