stevie dee of the pluckers has a big smoke machine that has an even bigger box attached to the front of it that he pours a big bag of ordinary ice into, the emmitted smoke has to travel though the ice and therfore cools down and as a result it hugs the floor untill it warms up in the ambient heat of the room then drifts upward into the room, cool or wot, well it was when it came out of the machine, yeah i know you are all saying its been done with dry ice, but dry ice shops are scattered all over the country arnt they not. so its a way of getting the same effect with a ready availabe resource, simply ice. now put a lazer light effect at low level into the low fog and the venue will pay an extra 50 quid for the performance, wishfull thinking.

yeh smoke is essential if you got lights...i used to have a low fogger (great effect but mine was too big and bulky, plus it took so much ice, it took forever to empty the water). You can actually convert any fog machine to be a low icer...just get a tin box with a lid, get a hosepipe from your smoke machine and connect it to the box.Drill a hole on ther side of box at a suitable height, and off you go!Obviously put ice cubes in tin box. Most supermarkets/off licences sell ice cubes these days, so just pick one up on your way to gig and if you're feeling flash, get a cooler bag to take it to gig in.
Bubble machines are really a no no, unless you're a Bonzo Dog tribute band.
Plus, the bubbles just either stick to carpet and make it slippy, or, on a hard dance floor make it lethal.
When I was doing discos I once ran out of bubble liquid and used Fairy liquid instead.....all these old biddies waltzing round going arse over tit when they hit the bubble patch LOL...dead funny to watch, however I realise now it was a bit dangerous LOL

PS Also try and avoid heavy fog ...I 've set loads of smoke alarms off in my time, and even had the fire brigade roll up to one...haze is pretty safe. If you wanna use the 'loe fog' though, you'll need heavy fog liquid

Anyone remember that episode of the Osbornes when Ozzy arrived at the gig to find Sharon had got him some kind of bubble generating vehicle to come on stage in?

"Bubbles? F*cking BUBBLES? I'm the Prince of f*cking Darkness! What do I want f*ckung bubbles for?" lmao.
