Absolutely brilliant venue, shame about the band.....
Just like to say that after our first gig at the Millstone, we were all really impressed with the place, nice stage area inhouse lighting and reallt freindly helpful staff.
Unfortunately;
There were only 30 or 40 punters in there, and despite our best efforts they stubbornly refused to leave.
Even after all our really terrible practise sessions, we somehow managed to consistantly play the same song, at roughly the same time and even end at about the same place.
There was some heckling from the crowd ( I use the term loosely to only cover people who happened to be drinking in the pub at the time) in the form of hitting their hands together and disparaging comments like 'more' and 'nice one'
We did have one or two people coming up for requests, but we carried on anyway.
Keith (our guitarist) miserably failed to sound like Les Dawson and kept hitting all the right notes, and, unfortunately, Chris the bassist embarrassed us all by staying in tune with him.
It was also a shame that Paul our singer didn't forget any words, managed to not sing out of key and even managed to make my backing vocals sound reasonable.......oh the shame.
Having said all that, I do think that on drums I was particularly shite, and couldn't quite get mysely to let go of the sticks, fall off my stool or even stop hitting the things I was aiming at.
Still, we'll keep practising and I'll let you all know on a regular basis how we are doing.
Sigh.......good job we got our weeks wages at the end of it or I wouldn't be doing it.
Love to all
